Parkinsons Walks

A visit to a garden railway somewhere in Gloucestershire. Lovely day, beautiful setting, wonderful railway, nice folk to share it with, who wouldn’t like to own their very own garden railway and spend days like this. Some days you can forget you have Parkinson’s Disease looking over your shoulder.
Home to the adventurous subscriber. As well as films we have a bi-weekly Vlog to keep up to date on the previous and next week’s videos, and a chance for all to air their views on a variety of subjects, why not join in.
My passion has been walking, a while ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and walking does not come naturally any more, however the more I walk the easier it gets, for now anyway. I hope these videos will inspire others to keep going and hanging on in there. I try to cover variety of subjects, such as old abandoned railways, and canals. I love the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, with its rich history and I usually take my camera whenever we holiday in the southwest and Cornwall. The rugged coastal paths are a magnet for anyone who loves dramatic scenery. I live close to the Cotswolds Hills and have done quite a lot of walking around there, recently, following some of the lovely rivers. Hill walking on the Malvern’s is a challenge but worth the effort. I try not to let Parkinson’s get me down and take every opportunity to get out with my camera and film, I hope you enjoy watching. P.W.

Just brilliant....what a way to relax...here in Northern Spain they had a narrow guage for mountain work...and guess what they took it all down... My hands covered my face in astonishment... I tried to explain just how few narrow lines are running....but it had no effect...beautiful area through the mountains for about 25 miles...most of the buildings left to ruin...some have now been taken over as restaurants...but what a waste...sad...😥😢

Aaow man. Imagine if something as neat as this was an illustrated part of Wilbert Awrdy's stories of _The Railway Series._ If only he could've lived just a lil' longer to actually make interesting real-life events around garden railways and how they're an astounding experience in relation to the life of building, running, and maintainenace about railways. Mhm, the retrospects I see with my very own two eyes of watching how railways around the globe are still a fascination to me and what they embark on when it comes to motive transportation. Gee, railroading is just so cool 😎

@@ParkinsonsWalks I fancy a Station Road Steam Feldbahn 0-6-0, especially rather than despite being rather unwell! If I had not been born a bit too late for a job on the railway in the age of steam I would have liked a life on the footplate but diesel and electric locos just don't have that certain magic for me. It is difficult to explain the appeal of steam to those who don't understand what it's all about 🤔😊😉

J.P GAMING: Looks like a “Tinkerbell” type of locomotive to me. The very first one was designed and built by a guy called Roger Marsh. His drawings are available and many model engineers have built this design of loco, often tweaking the design along the way so it’s fair to say they’re all very slightly different. A google search will bring up several images and information.

@@UKWMO Indeed, the original 7¼" gauge Tinkerbell was designed by Roger Marsh with Sir Arthur Heywood's 15" 'minimum gauge' loco's in mind. There's a nice shot of the Heywoods' valve gear in the video at 05:40, you can just see the slide beeing put in forward gear. I picked up my set of castings and drawings for a Tinkerbell class at Rogers' Brittania Works in Hinckley, aah those were the days ... The loco in the video looks to me made by, or at least influenced by, Jim Haylock of the famous Moors Valley Railway. I met Jim while he was still in Christchurch running a railway next to the Tucktonia miniature village. This all happened some 40 years ago, the original Tinkerbell must be running for over 50 years now. Thank you for the very nice video PW !
