Used to live there. The people are very friendly and I know more people in Crouch than I do my home town. That should give you a idea how nice they are there. Two elk herds call the valley home so it's not unusual to see them wandering down the by the church or even in down town. I only had two complaints with Crouch and Garden Valley. I lived there for four years and only one year was the summer free of smoke due to forest fires. The other three years it looked like were socked in with fog because the forest fire smoke was so thick. If you have asthma like I do it'll be a issue. Number two is grocery shopping. Unless they built a Safeway or something similar in the last four years you have to go all the way to Boise for grocieries. That's a 90 minute drive. There is a mom and pop gas station/liquor store but they're on the expensive side. There are draw backs to living in the mountains, like six feet of snow on the ground in the winter, but it's worth it. It's a beautiful valley, just don't have asthma.
