I grow a lot of different hydrangeas in 7a in acidic red clay soil. Invincibelle Limetta is my top performer in sun or shade. They start blooming with the oakleafs and keep blooming past the panicles until frost. They have had no pest or disease issues for me and are extremely low maintenance. I don't hear many KZfaqrs talk about it, but it's a fantastic hydrangea. I just keep buying more of that one. I never get tired of it.

Wow! Ok. You are right - don’t hear about this one much. Do you prefer this one to incrediballs?

@@KellyFlowers1968 For arborescens I have Wee White, Annabelle, Sublime, Lime Rickey, and of course Limetta. I haven't grown Incrediball, so I can't compare. Is Incrediball a rebloomer? I also grow 3 varieties of macrophylla, 1 variety of serrata, 5 types of quercifolia, and 5 kinds of paniculata. Limetta is the star of the show every year.

@@JLee-pc2vc Thank you for your response! WOW on all the hydrangeas that you grow. You should do a youtube! :) I don't know for sure if Incrediball is a rebloomer, but I think it is. I am just now dipping my toe into the arborescens family. That's very telling if you grow all those different varieties and Limetta is the star. Im going to find a Limetta somewhere this spring! So glad I came back to this video - THANKS again!

I’ve been waiting for a video like this…THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! No other gardener that I follow has a video this detailed - no one! This one will be certainly saved in my archive as a go-to informative video. I have a few hydrangeas that get morning sun, but I’ve always wanted to create a hydrangea hedge on my west front yard along our driveway and now I think I can do that. You have truly excited/encouraged me and I now feel confident to plant this and see it flourish. Thank you again lovely lady!🥰

Jenny, I love how you put all of the plant information on the screen. So naturally, I paused this video and grabbed my cell phone to take screenshots. Thanks for that wonderful suggestion! Sun mapping is something that I never did early on when planting shrubs, trees, and perennials, and I learned a few things the hard way. I also did not place things in the landscape according to the mature size, so as a result, I had some shrubs overgrow their location. Since then, I've subsequently limbed up several shrubs into multi-trunk tree forms, which look so much better, and I can leave them where I originally planted them. Other ones had to be removed. Gardening and landscaping can be such wonderful teachers! I hope your family is having a great summer! ~Margie🌞🌿🦋🌦️

I am in Zone 7B and I planted 2 Fire Light Tidbits this spring that get morning sun. The heat this year, we're in day 15 of over 100 temps, has really hurt these little guys. One of them is doing fine, the other has turned brown. It's still alive, but has sadly dropped all leaves.

Thanks for this video. So informative. My daughter-in-law was just telling me today she wants to plant a hydrangea. I had took her a bouquet of my little limelight that I got from you and planted this early spring. They are blooming and have so many blooms on them. I cut me and her a bouquet. I shared this video with her to watch. Then she can decide what one is right for her. My big limelight I bought from you hasn't bloomed yet. It is full of buds, so I can't wait for it to bloom. It is 2yrs old. 🤗

Jenny, you are speaking one of my garden love languages when you share about hydrangeas! Love this so much and have experimented here in my hot as heck zone 8a in north Central Texas. But my hydrangeas in the ground and in pots are all doing wonderful with the exception of one limelight which is really stumping me as it did great last year and all the other little limelights are beautiful again this year too. And my old mophead in the ground for years now from my home state of Arkansas is doing great too. So I'm planning for more hydrangea plantings next year too, especially after your video today. It's always an adventure in the garden and I love spending my mornings with you in your gorgeous gardens.

My husband just old me last night I should buy a few more hydrangeas! 🙌👏😆 So this video is perfect timing. We are in zone 7a and we just moved onto our new property, so there are lots of areas in need of plants. We currently have 3 lime light hydrangeas, 1 blue ice, and 1 incrediball hydrangea. I have a spot that gets sun until about 1pm then shade the rest of the afternoon and evening. I am thinking maybe the bobo hydrangea and perhaps something that I can turn blue as well. Any recommendations on one that will turn blue that won’t break in storms? Thanks! -Cara
