By far, THE BEST, gardening information available on the planet. I have purchased many books, magazines and much more. However, Nate's detailed informative style with a sincere desire to help others like me to rediscover (or discover) the power of microorganisms and transform my garden in the first season is incredible! The power and simplicity of Jadam with just JMS and JWA has made my love for gardening flourish now that my raised beds are producing more than I could have imagined. It started with Nate's suggestion to use JMS as a soil drench every week for a month prior to planting anything. If you have not tried this, give it a try! It is an easy way to set up any gardener for success. Thank you Nate!

I tried to make JMS with tap water that I let sit and offgas for 3 days and I discovered that even this was not enough to have a success result. I was successful when I used rainwater and also when I used store bought distilled water but something about tap water does not jive with the microbes even if you let it sit out beforehand. Hope people can benefit from my failure. [edit: as others below have suggested, it seems to be a chloramine issue as adding vitamin C powder and humic acid after running through a garden hose filter recently allowed me to make a flawless batch of JMS using municipal water].

I built in a filtered tap because tap water is terrible here. Its super clean and everything but the clorination is crazy high esoecially since covid they pushed even more in it. The other thing with my tapwater is that its have very high GH and KH and its makes the high PH of it very stable. My labs is barelly acidic. Maybe take some tests what can be wrong with yours. I have an RO filter too maybe that would be ideal for this kind of stuff. If you think its Cl that couses the problem maybe you can try to use seachem declorinating liquid for aquarium. Or I heard that C vitamin can de-Cl water, not very sure about it and not sure how that coops with bacteria and fungi but may worth a try if you don't have enough rain water.

All the information you disclose is relevant, well sequenced and clearly explained. Also, your style is right on target: you don't indulge in "look at me now" narcissism; and avoid both cult of personality and smugness. You were made for this medium and this medium was made for you. Made JMS for the first time the other day. Did a little experiment with two buckets.. Both buckets were made like in this video. After 24 hours no activity. In one of the buckets, I placed a moldy clod of grass clippings. 24 hours later that bucket was very active and foaming like the head on a beer. The other one was just getting bubbles.

I used water from my fish tank and anything that has sugar (apples pears potato’s) with compost. I live in a desert so not much trees. Getting micro organisms is the hardest thing for me to get because the sun kills everything. If you live in the desert add it to your plants at night and water a lot to try to push it down. Good luck

Yes, my Summers are brutal here in Bakersfield, we innovate, because we have to. We are a kindred spirit my brother. My best gardening is in the fall winter and spring, very little in the summer, just the opposite of our Northern brothers and sisters. I've watched my tomato plants wither in the mid-day sun even after a good watering that morning. I guess you have to see it to understand, I know that you do. Best wishes

I use JMS after the microbes die, up to a month of brewing. It makes a shelf stable and clarified solution. It contains the maximum NPK value of the inputs, won't clog a sprayer with biofilm and lasts indefinitely when sealed and in the dark.

Hi my friend. Can I use the JMS for fruit trees as well and in what ratio? Also can I reuse the leaf mould after the initial brew? So for example if I add unchlorinated water and the salt+potato mixture with the same leaf mould, will it brew another batch of JMS? Or do I need fresh leaf mould every time I brew JMS?

I mixed up JMS at 7 in the morning and by 7 the next morning it was already overdone and nasty. Next day, I repeated at 7am and by 7pm it was ready to go into the dirt. 12 hours is all it needed. Hi Nate, I love how easy this mixture is to make I plan on putting this on all of my garden this year. I’ve always been blessed with good yields from my garden but I’ve struggled with certain plants doing good I now believe its from the nutrients in the soil so this year I’m doing it the Viking way and bringing back the plants I’ve struggled to grow in the past. @nic.h 8 ай бұрын
He answered this below, the solution has basically a zero shelf life, and should be used as soon as it's ready to get the microbes in the soil. If left in the bucket they die off quickly once the food source is exhausted. Maybe you could extend it by feeding more blended potatoes and water for food and space to allow them to keep growing. But likely best to just use the batch when it's ready.

I use a microwave for about 4 min on 4 lg russet potatoes 🥔. You are only “softening” the tater so u can squeeze out the starch more easily. You still want to suspend some chunky parts so it creates a matrix “reef” for the microbes to start attaching to.

I just happened upon your videos so informative so professional oh my gosh you cut to the chase you present it perfectly thank you very much and as far as using it I’m gonna put it in a kitty pool and then take my sump pump and spray it in my garden that’s how I get the water out of my horse troughs from the rain gutter I built 20 years ago to water plants that hoses cannot reach love love love your channel cheers Florida

@@gardenlikeaviking you mention 5 times before you plant anything for gardens. What about for established lawns. How to get same benefits without doing the 5 times large amount. Slowly over time smaller doses into lawn?

This is great information and you do a good job keeping it simple and basic. Keep up the good work! Could I use another food source rather than potatoes? I have small grains and corn would that provide the proper food for the microbes to multiply?
@gardenlikeaviking
@gardenlikeaviking 2 ай бұрын
thank you my friend and the only other food sources I've had success with are sweet potatoes and bananas... I don't think a grain would work but you could try... highly suggest learning with this exact method first so you develop the base level knowledge then later you can experiment with other food sources

I want to do this to a really depleted garden spot. So my question is: Can I apply it at a much stronger strength? One other question is...what if I 'plant' potatoes all over this garden spot (heavily)? I am not looking to grow potatoes but to just let these potatoes rot in the soil, keeping the tops mowed down. Would that be a slower but similar method to boosting microbes in the soil or would that not produce what you have done cooking, blending and mixing with water at all? Thanks a million for these brief yet so informative videos...really great. Jesus bless.

The potatoes I'm assuming are for the starche,, the prebiotics (bananas are a good source too), which is probably why you boil em too to essentially "break em open" This is really just a super charged inoculation, but really any life and subsequent rot is great for your soil. Leaving potatoes to rot could never be bad as it's just keeping the food in there from the start 😂

Believe you can apply this stronger if there is nothing currently growing in the bed, if something is rooted in the bed don't go stronger than 1:10 ratio.

I just use blue miracle grow to get my plants growing faster in the beginning, then apply 10-10-10, chicken manure fertilizer from Menards, and gypsum. After the tomatoes start growing I then use cardboard not the shiny stuff covering all exposed soil , and then apply last fall’s leaves from neighbors on the cardboard. This keeps the soil more evenly moist so the tomatoes don’t go from feast to famine. During the growing season I switch to the Alaska fetishized emulsion for feedings. The fall leaves prevent the tomatoes from that yellow leaf fungus because I get no splash up from the soil onto the plants from rain or watering. Plant the tomatoes deep so you don’t have to water as much. I’m going to try your DYI fertilizer in the big barrel with grass or weeds because that’s so logical. I’m excited to try that. I’ve done organic gardening only previously for 20 years. My mother gave me a box of miracle gro and I was impressed especially getting the plants off to a faster start in the beginning. Then I got 10-10-10 and experienced very good results. The summers are short here in Minnesota so the faster they take off is very important. Oh I forgot I use wood ash in everything that grows in my yard that to helps. I enjoy your videos.

That is great. Miracle Grow has had such a bad rap lately. I try to be organic but there are times when a quick fix is just that and it works.

Thank you so much for your fantastic explanations. Your information is so accessible & easy to understand & use. I’ve been reading on these topics for quite awhile but you just put it all into perspective & give much better directions to make use of Jadam than anything I’ve seen before. One question about my own situation: I’ve turned an in ground worm bed ( about 3’ x 10’) into a veggie bed but didn’t remove the carpet layer buried about 18 - 20” down because it’s a barrier against tree roots. Should I get rid of the carpet? Gums here in Australia are incredibly aggressive- roots travelling 50 - 60 mths. Thank you, again.
@gardenlikeaviking
@gardenlikeaviking Жыл бұрын
thank you for the positive feedback my friend!!... so the carpet is blocking aggressive tree roots??... I'd say leave it just because tree roots can strangle an entire garden bed so bad nothing else will grow... the roots of the plants will likely find their way down through it well enough anyways
