Who is Garden State Tortoise? 🧐
However you made it here, thank you and welcome to Garden State Tortoise. Garden State Tortoise is home to hundreds of animals from all around the world. We are a family dedicated to adventure, conservation of wildlife, and all things nature. We are a reptile rescue and breeding facility for more than ten years, offering refuge to those who need it, and working everyday to protect the beautiful world of reptiles in any way we can. Here on our KZfaq channel you will be able to join us on our animal adventures while learning how to care for, protect, properly identify, feed and even breed many species of turtle, tortoise, snake and lizard. We even work with frogs and salamanders! We hope you enjoy our videos and help us share them with the world so we can continue to educate people of all ages about herpetology.

@@maryann350 I also watch Kamp Kenan, but as of late I have drifted away from his channel. He let go of Matt unceremoniously and didn’t seem phased by it. He now charges for premium content and I recall when he gave up his dog Lobo, stating the dog bit his step son. I just get the vibe he’s become a bit more disingenuous as of late whereas Chris seems so kind and passionate about reptile conservation. Just my opinion though.

Let's not forget the giant alligator snapper that was a resident of the Shedd Aquarium from '82 until passing on a breeding loan in '99. He was almost 3' and weighed 249#. Watched him for hours in the '90s.

I remember him! Yes, he was huge. I was sad when he passed. I've always wondered if the stress of moving him to Tennessee is what ended up killing him. I know breeding programs are important, but I wish they'd sent the - no doubt smaller - female(s) to Chicago, instead. Who know how a trip like that could affect a turtle that size? (Well, Chris and Casey probably do.)

Absolutely fabulous. When I was a kid growing up in San Diego one of the first things I wanted to do was look at the tortoise enclosure at the zoo. I just hope anyone who decides they want to get a tortoise that they need to have it in their will for someone else to take care of If it outlives them. Tortoises like parrots can outlive us and you need to make sure they’ll always have a home. Fabulous facility you’d have, so tranquil.

Love seeing all the turtles. We mostly see eastern box turtles in our yard. I always find it amazing how much their personalities will differ from one turtle to the next. Some will try to hide the second we go into the yard. Others seem completely unafraid and don't mind being touched.

Not quite as sassy and the big girl before that pinned Chris' fingers, though. 💪🏼🐢And those impressed tortoises. (21:00) Wow. They are really unusual looking and they really do look like an ancient species that might have been comfortable living in the time of the dinosaurs. That shell is has such a unique shape. Beautiful!

What an absolutely amazing place... wish I was still in Europe- that would be on the top of the visit list. - side note what is it about Alligator Snappers that is just so dang compelling! What a lovely set of critters and that big male!!!
