regarding the second frame break; it is proven that no matter how hard you hit the cue ball on the break, the ball leaves the tip virtually instantly. It is impossible then to keep the cue ball in contact with the cue. In Gareth's regard, his cue bends down on the table because he wants the force to be down into the table - which creates the bounce and helps hold position - and doesn't want to let up the power before the hit. You see this style of break a lot in american 10 ball.

Well said. I'm still not entirely sure of why the "pop break" is so effective. But it definitely is. American 9 ball and 10 ball players have been using it for decades, so there is something to it. But it isn't about keeping the tip in contact with the cue ball longer.

great finishes i am looking to play at pro lever i have done over 100 eight ball english clerances pool games ive been playing 4 days a week for years and looking to earn out off it but not used a snooker cue to play the games and have done eight balls form break under a 60 secounds all eight but someone said thiers know money in english pool but 9 and 10 ball is easy for me
