My First Day in Russia - • MY FIRST DAY in RUSSIA...
My First Day in Japan - • My First Day in Tokyo ...
Zagreb, Croatia - This is my first 24 hours in Croatia, and first time in the Balkans Region. I couldn't be more excited to begin my 3-week road trip across Croatia; starting from here in Croatia's capital city of Zagreb.
After 27 hours of travel to reach Zagreb, including an 8-hour layover in Istanbul (video), I hit the ground running!
I had no real set plan beyond your recommendations on Instagram (@traveldeeper) of the best things to do in Zagreb. Luckily, I also had the guidance of my local Croatian friend, Helena.
I started the day with a traditional Croatian breakfast, Burek, and then explored downtown Zagreb.
I ventured into Zagreb's main public market, the Dolac Market, and got to experience the traditional Croatian atmosphere.
From here, I met up with Helena ( / helenarawandlifestyle ) to see the modern side of Zagreb, the Museum of Broken Relationships - which turned out to be so much more emotional than expected.
We enjoyed an amazing traditional Croatian lunch at a Zagreb landmark; Okrugljak - only a 15-minute drive from downtown Zagreb.
That afternoon, I took the shortest cable car in the world up to Zagreb's old town to see the incredible St. Mark's Church.
For dinner, I finished the day in a quiet suburb of Zagreb at local Croatian restaurant that I can't pronounce, lol!
I hope you enjoyed this "Best Things to do in Zagreb, Croatia" video ❤️ If so, please hit that "👍" button, and leave a comment!
Otherwise, see ya next week from our Croatian Road Trip!!!

@@evan.whobrey That's for people related to Croats, you can't just randomly apply for Croatian citizenship, you need to live in Croatia continuously for at least 5 years and be fluent in Croatian, you can't stay outside the country for more than a month within a period of 180 days, and these requests are authorized by people, not machines, so this is not a guarantee either, 5 years and Croatian are the bare minimum

@@DT-mw3ge The worst regime in the Balkans is the Serbian regime, the regime ruled by the SPC. That regime with its sick ideas (we are all Serbs) has been destroying all the countries around Serbia (Bulgaria, Croatia, BiH, Montenegro, Kosovo, Slovenia and Serbia itself) for the last 100 years and that regime has killed more people together than Jasenovac. The facts about Jasenovac, no one said that people are not killed there, but that number you say is a fraud, even the Jews say that number is too high. You do not mention the Serbian Nazi regime. How about that? Do not write stupid comments on this channel. The guy makes a vlog about Croatia. Don't be jealous because he doesn't know where Serbia is. About Serbia, he can only note how good the night life is in Belgrade and how you have cheap women.

Well i would think that you have a croatian restaurant in san diego, not sure ofc, but san diego had a lot of croatian immigrants, mostly dalmatian tho, who mostly went for the fishing industry there and achieved their dreams afaik, i think it was in san diego, not sure, but a croatian there invented that reel for retrieving the nets from the sea so it wasn't done by hands, deckhands, that changed the entire industry and made it an industry world wide in fact. So i guess you will find some croatian place there, probably more with the mediterranean food tho, and not the continental one, but can be both ofc.

Ohh man. Its fabulous watching you wax lyrical over the Kremsnita, which looks suspiciously like an Australian vanilla slice. Common as donuts down under although quality varies depending on where you buy them. We even make a mocha one. I suspect might be more polenta than standard custard considering the location. The food looks divine, as does the locale...rather envious and adding Croatia to my bucket list!

@@chrissessions6108 Zagreb, Central Europe. But that is not the point, there is no "Eastern-European look", every European country has a unique mix of influences, it's more regional even, regardless whether the country is generally more east or west. If you watched The Gray Man and didn't know better, you'd think that Croatia is distinctly West European -French, because it takes place on Korčula Island, but with footage of Mljet Island (both Mediterranean, could be some Italian Island, where they put digitally the Chateau de Chantilly that's in France. Not to say that they put the location on map to a completely empty sea area near Pelješac bridge.

I know this is an off the wall question, but do the windows there have screens? The mention that Zagreb looks like traditional Europe paired with the shot of the old man smoking his cigarette with a traditional grip is excellent. Your first Croatan dessert...you know it's good when he has it smeared all over his face. All I can say about the street sights of Zagreb...and especially the girl on the cable car...is Wow! Thanks so much for visiting this corner of the world, which seems to me to be too neglected. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. And the food.

Love, love, love it! I haven’t been yet but 50/50 chance we’ll be there in Sept. If it doesn’t come together then next year for sure. Croatia intrigues me because it has beauty in landscapes and people with a complicated, tumultuous history. It’s unsettling to know that it wasn’t that long ago that this area was a total battlefield. That museum was quirky and cool. Food is heavy and delicious, just what you need to offset war torn memories. Great to see a glimpse of overlooked Zagreb before the touristy coast. But my favorite part was after the cable car, that cheeky “hi” to the passerby as you walked down. You were definitely feeling yourself. Can’t wait for the next one. P.S. What is your ethnic makeup? You look like a local.
