Overall I think the Body Battery is a Helpful feature and it comes with a lot of the Garmin devices for free. It being free is huge as other companies ( Talking mostly about Fitbit ) make you pay for things like this.

This feature is really useful for Garmin, which apple doesn’t yet have and I feel it’s pretty accurate if I consider how tired or energetic I feel tends to correlate with what body battery is reporting

I know this is an older video and Garmin now shows HRV on some models. As for comparison to your whoop, it was in line if you look at your stress levels during sleep on April 9-11. I’ve found when I’m sick or possible overtraining my stress levels during sleep are higher which doesn’t allow for that number to go as high to start the day.

My body battery feature on my Venu 2 is just never happy with me. Typical highs of around 40 and lows around 5. It is constantly telling me that I have stress and poor sleep. Been retired two years, drink nearly zero alcohol. I jog between three and six miles, either two or three times per week. Age mid 60's, BMI less than 23. I don't get it. Honestly the most stressful aspect of my life is that my Garmin watch is constantly telling me how stressed I am.

does hrv take into account for weightlifting and calisthenics?

It typically does. I wasn't able to see a HRV number on body battery though so I'm not sure how accurate it is. HRV is one of the best things a fitness band can measure as long as they are doing it accurately

Serious question - what's the point of checking an app to tell you how fatigued you are? When you're tired you'll feel tired, so how/why are people actually using these body battery type metrics on these apps?

Because many people don't listen to their body even if they feel tired or they have lost their connection with their body.

What you’re saying makes sense, but let me give you an alternative perspective. Some people have a lower baseline, so they don’t even know what having a high battery feels like. For example, people with CFS or POTS are going to have a very low baseline, so they can easily over due it. I have suspicions that I have POTS, and I was planning on going to the gym today, but according to my body battery, I don’t actually have much energy left. This is how I’m used to feeling, so I didn’t even realize my body is drained. I’ve decided I’m not going to the gym and will rest instead.

At the end of the day the recovery score is a personal feeling and if being tired tells you to not go to the gym then you aren't looking at it correctly. The majority of recovery scores gives you a suggestion to use the time where you would typically do something a little bit more high intensity, to use that tone to help you recover. Stretching, yoga, meditation, ect. These things are typically ignored and should be used more often

I think the body battery scores are inaccurate, I have always had the same fitness routine before I bought the watch, I am 60 annd still alive and well and my body battery is always drained by mid morning, even though I sleep 8 hours, so why I wake up with score 15?

How long have you had it? Are you doing anything like drinking the night before to affect your sleep?
@gregzaks6649

@@FitnessWithFrost I have had it for about 2 weeks. I always drink wine with my dinner, but only two glasses, and I have been doing this for the last 40 years. Generally I am a healthy person and very energetic, very rarely getting tired, and that is why I am mystified about the body battery readings.

I would try it out without the glasses of wine as a test. Even though it might feel like better sleep with alcohol, studies show that the quality of the sleep lessens with consumption. Even if you have built a tolerance to the effects of alcohol your body still treats it the same

How is it possible that Garmin body battery is completely at odds with how I feel? I hàve returned one watch, thinking it was faulty, they gave me another one, but it is the same story. I do not feel tired, but my body battery is at 5. It keeps on draining when I am resting, and it recharged when I went for a walk. I am afraid to move because it will go down to 5 before 3 pm. What is the purpose of this idiotic feature? Garmin, I will never buy your product again😢😢😢

Quick questions to follow up. Was there any alcohol involved? How was your stress? Any underling health issues?
@gregzaks6649
@gregzaks6649 10 ай бұрын
My stress levels are low or medium, no underlying health issues that I know of, as for the alcohol I always drink 2 glasses of wine with my supper, and that doesn't vary, but the battery scores are sometimes replenished during the night and sometimes not. This is just worrying but definitely not useful,

To be perfectly honest and relatively frank with you. It is most likely the alcohol consumption. Yes I know you might feel decent throughout the day. But alcohol will effect you even if you do not feel it. It you are used to drinking 2 drinks a day then that is your normal. I would challenge you to take some drinks away a couple night and see how you body performes. Most likely you will sleep better and recovery better. At the end of the day alcohol is a toxic for your body even if you have gotten accustomed to the effects of it

Their website says that it takes 5-7 days sometimes to learn your biometrics on a new device. Also resetting the device will make it go back to having to relearn your biometrics and go back to that 5-7 day relearning period.
@gregzaks6649
@gregzaks6649 10 ай бұрын
@@poetrywithwings it has been reset, and I had it for about 2 months. It is just a gimmick for lazy people to stop doing anything because the body battery tells them so. It is harmful for active people and I got rid of it and bought Fitbit sense 2, which does not punish and frighten you when you have an active lifestyle

I don't like the garmin one. I don't trust it. I hardly come over the 50. Yesterday was a busy day. I woke up with 13? went down to 5 as from 10am. in the morning after a good night sleep it's still on 5.
