So has that yesterday been a good day with your Postman??? maybe some things are different to when I posted this video, but the jist of it is still the same... just learn the buttons first, knowing where the back button is and the up and down, and of course the GPS button, as that opens and sets... takes a few good days, just keep playing with it, and if in doubt, use the back button... also take notes what you have adjusting things on, then you can always return back them if you find it works better... cheers :)

@@mzmagister Could be the only watch you need... took mine to London yesterday, so much easier navigating using the watch than a phone, also doesn't light up your face at night like a phone, plus safer too, especially in London with all those scooter phone jackers :-P Enjoy the learning curve, you won't know it all, but very satisfying to find new things along the way, which can be of more use to you :)

Pleased the video helped you, and more importantly glad it saved you from many many hours of frustration from the start, but once you get the hang of how the OS works, you'll find that it's like that through all the modes... just keep trying buttons especially the GPS button as this opens sub windows, and if not sure, just press the BACK button to go back one place :)) Cheers for your feedback :))

Hey buddy... late, well the Fenix 5X Plus is still a flagship of Garmin's and still a very useable Garmin too, in fact when I did the side by side review, there's really no difference in speed... but the Fenix 6 does have that bigger screen and is more compact. There has been some software updates, but really this is something that is easy to follow, it's how to make it all work fresh out of the box, so am pleased this video has helped many... I remember the shape well, there was a later version with those really ugly round headlights that just looked wrong, a buddy of mine had one of those, and rolled it 8 times into a potato field, he was lucky, as he was a big guy, so was wedged in the cockpit, and anyone thinner would've slipped out the belt. Sell the Apple quickly before the version 7 is out! So pleased my tutorial helped, and thanks for the feedback... there has been some updates, but am sure you'll work it out as it's only minor. One is with regards to the stopwatch, whereas before to exit the stopwatch using the BACK button would take a LAP, so it had to be a HOTKEY to get you back to home screen (Watch Face) guess Garmin saw my video and now the stopwatch has an option using the 'UP' button which now shows the 'Watch Face' :)) Thanks again... and i've also done a long tutorial on the navigational side with live usage :)) Enjoy my friend and thanks again :))

It would be great if they did... my experience when I unboxed it was where to start... it came with a very quick guide, but not really taking you in any direction, and I couldn't base my tutorial without a plan, thus why I wrote my own instructions... software updates have changed a few things, but the basics are still the same. My goal was to make the out of the box experience a joy, easy to follow step by step of the most important things, even down to the screenshot side, which isn't explained especially with Mac computers. I've also done the navigational tutorial on my Fenix 6Pro, but that's all hands on with a live demo of it working... yeah, took a lot of time, but when you have to make a tutorial, it has to include everything from the very basic level. You convinced me... I bought one question, have you ever tried the marine maps ?? the garmin web site says that the VEU722L-Europe Atlantic Coast and VEU723L-Southern Europe work on the Fenix 6 Pro. but they are both g3 Vision and are around £350 and cover a large area, looks like you can get BlueChart g3 and g3 Vision, the g3 is cheeper (less stuff on the maps, but I can't see half the Vision stuff working on the watch anyway) also you can get 'smaller' area BlueChart g3 and g3 Vision maps for a lot less. Anyone know any thing about the marine maps, there must be loads of people that sail inland lakes and rivers, that have bought the Fenix 6 as a cheap chartplotter alternative

Protip: if you're a highstrung American who finds that WatchUp's pleasant and polite "out for a Sunday stroll" voice is taking up too much of your time, increase the playspeed. In the vid click the gear, then playback speed, then 1.5. He almost sounds like a rude American hurrying through his dialog with little concern for his viewers! (I say this affectionately, as I myself increased the speed). Great vid WatchUp! I wonder if Active Duty Military personnel who don't find this vid use 1/10th of the features (I refer to the Tactix Delta Ballistics variant, which has the same software with some additions) . I know when I was in I only read tech manuals when I had to. I hope they find this vid. Bravo Zulu friend.

When I was planning the tutorial side, following Garmin's instructions was just not step by step, so had no choice but create work for myself to make the video foolproof. I'm dyslexic and so following instructions that have no directions was the side that made the experience not so great. I'm lucky to however have this gift of pretty much understanding these watches without aid, but it still took a full week to get this video filmed and edited, but my goal is about helping, and reading your comment now has just made a smile on my face... cheers for the feedback and HaPpY New Year :)

Hey buddy... cheers for your support firstly, and with regards to mapping ideas, there's a few other good channels like DCrainmaker or Chase the Summit who really focus more on that side with their content... I stick with Explore, but I would suggest looking at Komoot... I find as users share their hikes and walks, it makes it easy to copy and use their uploads, some even post photos of their route, so really good.... small side, if you need more mapping then you have to pay a one off fee, I've got the whole world for £29 and that suits me, as it's really good... hope that helps, and thanks again :)

Thank you for the complex tutorial and review. For a few years I've been using Suunto Ambit 3 Peak - which is probably the best outdoor watch ever (for sure at its generation), but I started looking for a replacement. I kept looking into Garmin Instinct Solar, due to the price and some nice features, but it almost lack the "smartwatch part" (lack of this in Ambit3 Peak is one of the reasons I will let it go and look for new generation watch). Never considered plastic Polar watches, new Suuntos kept following Polar's design unfortunately, so I am left with the question: Instinct Solar / 5 Plus / 6 Pro :)

Cheers for the feedback my friend :) The Garmin's aren't like iWatches or Samsung watches, they've not got a bazillion pixel displays and they won't share photos, but looking for an activity tracker then these come alive... the 5 Plus and 6 Pro have built in maps... easy to use and don't look like a Fitbit. It all depends on your needs and what you really want it to do, or do you really needs it? Is a phone more than enough?

@@TheNorthernMist I remember those times dearly like you, and when wearing a vintage quartz, it really does take you back to youth.... Texas Instruments were expensive back in the day, and I'm sure some of their cal watches are today! The Fenix 6x isn't the top of tech like an Apple watch, but what it does offer flaws the Apple watch, it's made well and with push buttons makes it brilliant to use in any weather conditions.. the display is a good choice as it's not there to show Tik Tok selfies LML :-P The Instinct is a fine watch too, was wearing it yesterday on a walk :)) It's pretty amazing to see how tech has become smaller and more compacted with functions, but feel there needs to be a limit or the future will be the watch yelling orders at us LML :-P Cheers!

@@oliveoil3650 You can search for places, enter the coordinates, or use the points of interest directly into the watch, but there are some Apps on Garmin Connect that allow you to enter the address, and this converts it so the Fenix understands it.... you can also use the Map in the watch, and search using the cross hair and navigate directly to that point you've highlighted.
