Hi Friends! **AMMENDMENT**: At 2:15 in this video I basically said that this device doesn't have automatic workout tracking. Turns out it sort of does! There's a feature called Garmin MoveIQ (as pointed out by @dustindunphy) which essentially tracks all of your motion (at a lower accuracy level) throughout the day. Essentially passive motion tracking which could retroactively be used to track workouts etc. I could probably blame this on the nonexistent user tutorial. But I'm not just the average user, I'm a reviewer and I'd like to apologize for not doing my due diligence here. Turns out we have some pretty strong watch related opinions, don't we! haha Fr tho, I did just want to say that your dissenting opinions are very welcome here! Insults are not. Watch me block and report you. :-D Do also please watch the whole video before you comment. Some of you aren't, and it shows. **Couple of things** Yes! This watch is not for me. Here's a quote from the video you just watched: *"...if I was doing maybe a 60-day trek in the wilderness absolutely. But for the Casual hiking that I do my Apple watch Ultra 2 is great."* I've pretty explicitly acknowledged that this watch isn't for me and that for people who DO enjoy more extreme conditions, this watch would be great. Because the battery is really the only standout feature. I would also point out that this device is, regardless of personal taste, kind of a mess UI and marketing-wise. Again, I think if you watch the entire video you'll see this. Lastly, not a single one of you has even claimed to have even seen or USED this watch IRL. Obviously, you're welcome to go to bat for it, but that seems unwise given your lack of actual experience. Lastly, thank you all for watching and interacting! Although your criticism has been a little rough, I would say that as a critic, being unable to take it would be pretty ironic lol. Best of luck to each of you, and thank you again for your engagement and support. **Cave Johnson voice** We're done here, BRB (he/they)

Thanks for the review -- you picked a pretty well controversially loved Garmin smart watch option. I'd say I have absolutely none of the issues you had with it, but I think it's very real that this watch is not for every user. That said the UI isn't that difficult and is pretty identical on a lot of Garmin watches, so once you're familiar with it you can also switch between them easily. I recommend looking at the Garmin 955, 965 or Fenix 7 or Venu 2 as possible options more for your type of user.

This watch is for people climbing mountains and running multi-day adventure races. When you are high up in the mountains, you are not going to use watch faces, messages or music. You will need a map, navigation and the most important - you will need a lot of battery life and that is exactly what this watch is providing.

Considering the original Garmin Instinct is still being sold, this 2X will outlast your crappy Apple Watch by years. You're being ripped off by $599 price tag on this watch? How much does your Apple Watch cost with battery life of 2 days lol And the fact you can't use your Apple Watch on it's own, and you're forced to pair it with your iPhone... lame.

While I realize this wasn't an Apple vs. Garmin review, your opening title sequence kind of goes there. This watch isn't meant to "keep up." That would be a job for the Epix or the Fenix. It doesn't matter if the people commenting own it or not. You chose a watch meant for athletes, military and outdoorsman to review. First, you knocked having heart rate displayed. I come from Samsung and many of their faces do this. Not sure why it's a bad thing. You failed to elaborate on each face and show how the data fields are each customizable. Including inside the dumb ugly circle. This watch does everything the Fenix does at half the price without the memory, maps, color and touch screen so it's a big downgrade for some but for others it's fine. This watch is all about battery life, but it does some pretty cool shit if you need it to as far as fitness and survival goes. Some people like sports cars and some like and or need trucks... Garmin's are for athletes and outdoorsmen. And Apple watches are for city dwellers and yoga pants moms 😉. Edit: couple more things, look up multi band gps and move iq.

@@benjaminbutcher fair enough, and to be clear I wasn't trying to knock your content, aside from a difference in preference, your production value is really good. Good review from an apple fanboy! Much appreciated for your comments which although I don’t have this watch and currently looking to ‘upgrade’ from my Garmin forerunner 745, due to wanting a simple sports watch without needing to ever charge and also log my surf activities (forerunner 745 doesn’t). I had an Apple Watch 4 for three years and four days before going completely dead on my ass. I’d get an Apple Watch again if battery lasted more than a week and also had solar charge. Until that time, likely never as apple wants to keep us in a cycle of upgrading for new batteries that last longer, I’ll be sticking with Garmin. All your points on the watch, having owned the forerunner 745 for three years now and knowing how Garmin watches work, seem extremely spot on. I’m also an apple fan boy with MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad, AirPods. The watch though I just need more than what apple provide and Garmin right now for all it shortcomings actually suit my lifestyle better. And the ‘pros’ of the Apple Watch you mention, actually I’m not bothered about, ie Siri, media controls, workout automation, constantly being connected to apps etc. I actually want to go do sport and be disconnected in purpose and yes yes yes you can turn do not disturb more on and all that. Touch screen. Actually no good in water and I surf everyday and the Apple Watch touch screen drove me crazy, maybe it’s better now since the newer versions? Thanks for your review and all your points are helpful. Yew 🤙

Hey man thanks for your video. I have owned this watch since November 16th and its done right by me. I had the same thoughts about those screws being in the way and gathering dirt but I can say that isn't an issue. I bought this watch because I like Garmin products for their health and sleep stuff as they seem to be really accurate. I mainly bought this watch because I cant stand the fact I would have to charge something weekly lol. I get about 41 days with the SPO2 sensor turned off (30 days turned on). I've put this watch through its paces and it holds strong. I agree this watch wont be for everyone and thats ok as this product is geared towards a particular group of people. But then again every brand worth something these days makes a smart watch so there is something for everyone lol

This was a poor review because the watch is geared to a specific crowd. I have a much more rugged life than you and after destroying 2 apple watches and wearing it at night to track my sleep to have the watch be dead by morning I wanted a tough and rugged watch with a longer battery life. Not to mention, I don't need to be tied to my phone and need to respond to someone via text message or phone call from my watch. I find the Garmin Instinct 2X to be a FAR MORE superior product to the apple watch, but that depends upon your lifestyle. Perhaps you should review the fenix or something a little more fancy pants.
