Thanks Gabe for the great video…I have the exact same results on my R10. Iron shots are spot on but driver is short by 10 - 15 yards on carry number. Still love it and think for the price it is unbeatable.

Thanks Matt, as always. I just re-purchased the R10 after trying it out like you when it first came out. I haven’t used it indoors yet, only on the range, and out of the 400 shots or so that I’ve taken, the readings have been very accurate and it’s only missed 2 shots total! Big difference from the firsts time around. Also, I’m finding the club numbers much more in line with my divots and shot shape (e.g., the club to path, club face to target/path, angle of attack)…those were way off in the first iteration.

I’ve noticed that the e6 connects numbers are much more accurate. The r10 is an amazing little beast!

Finally found one of these at MSRP and I love it.... when it works. I haven't checked to see if there have been any new updates the last few days.

Agree with you Matt. Love it indoors except for accurately reading my driver and three wood. It’s about 20 yds short with driver compared to me on Trackman. Remember to calibrate each time you turn it on.

I observe similar results with driver, outdoors into a net: Spin seems high, but also the launch angle is measuring low... so much so that I thought I broke my swing. Went to a local shop and hit on a Trackman outdoors, and this wasn't the case, thankfully. Other stats, such as club/ball speed & angles seem to be pretty accurate though. It did help me sort out my swing with 6, 7 & 8 iron, so I am getting proper gapping, so that is a win in my book.

I found the awesome golf range to be more accurate in my trial version of it. Sometimes the garmin driving range wasn't showing the correct shot shape on the range. Awesome golf nailed it every time. Makes me wonder if the Garmin algorithms are just a hair off over other apps. Would be interested in using the gspro or tgc range to try. E6 seems to be a little on the higher side as well. Overall though I agree it's hard to beat for the price.

Have you tried it with the Pro V1 RCT Balls? Garmin claims 30x better spin rate accuracy and 50% better carry distance accuracy with them. I would be really interested in a comparison using a regular ball and one of the RCT balls.

From seeing this video I thought a new update released today. But no still the same one for a while. I get the same sort of numbers using it at the range. Good to mid irons, a bit short on longer up to driver. I found using E6 on my ipad it was more accurate vs the HTH on the phone. No idea why but thats what I use at the range now.

Indoors I run 10ft to target 8ft to R10. ALL walls carpeted. Indoors isn't as accurate but on a easily sourced tri-pod fine. Outdoors the R10 comes in as a serious tool. Example top end of the bag I needed a go to 215-230yard club. Tested 3 wood, hy wood, hybrid, 3 iron, UDI. 30 shots with each hy-wood won a spot. Testing too give me alternatives for Lynx, high winds, etc. Great feeling with gapping nailed too.

I’ve just got mine inside my garage. R10 is 8’ behind my ball and net is 9’ in front. There’s a fiberglass with metal garage door behind the net. I hit 15 drives. 85-86 mph smash factor 1.47-1.50 and my total distance was 210. I was about 181 average distance with 5iron. I know I drive the ball closer to 240-250 on the course. Any thoughts on the accuracy indoors for my driver?

Was planning on purchasing but not sure how well it would work at driving range facility with multiple bays. Rapsodo and swing caddie sc300i had a difficult time picking up the ball. Have you tested the Garmin at a DR?

Love your new studio. I definitely like tgc2019 adaptability, i played it alot on the playstation and even the new pga2k21 version. I love to play golf but hate to practice so maybe playing it as video game might make me play more lol.

I got my R10 about a month ago and unfortunately I haven’t been able to get the best use out of it yet. I mostly hit balls at the driving range on grass. Trying to hit a bucket of balls is definitely a challenge with the R10. The setup isn’t as easy on grass to get accurate numbers even with the stand to make it level. I’d really wish the app offered a way to view how level it is to the ground and how straight it’s pointing to the ball and your target. The pros about hitting on the grass is you have enough room for the required 8ft from your R10 to the ball placement. However, the cons is that your ball placement constantly changes as you hit balls. Remember, most driving ranges allows maybe 5ft of hitting area. Therefore, you’re constantly moving the R10 around and needing to reset it to again align with your target and be level to the ground. I haven’t gave up on the R10 yet so hopefully one day I’ll go to a driving range in the area that does the mats only to set it up and probably get a better experience with it.

A lot of people when they first set it up and hit a shot they calibrate the garmin. I hear it helps set it up properly before Hitting a shot.

Hey Gabe, new subscriber. Appreciate the way you communicate in your vids and the honesty, hard to find on YT. Question: strictly for the launch monitor feature because I’m trying to figure out my yardages and gaps in my clubs, would you suggest the r10 or the g80? Or any other pocket sized launch monitor in that same price range?

Yeah, mine didn't work. Maybe I needed to update the software. I would say "wake up device" every few minutes and it only captured maybe every 3rd or 5th shot. Mine would blink red, white, green, red, red, red, green, red ... it was horrible but the one in the video seems to be working great.

I finally received my R10 a few weeks ago, and I’m loving it. I take it to the Range with me and its great a capturing my numbers. I’ve even used it to play a round of golf while hitting balls at the range. I just started using the camera function to capture my swing to help me visualize what I need to work on. Still a newbie at using it but for me the numbers have been spot on, but I use it at the range and not in a net.

Great update video! I have the same issue on mine with the driver…. Seems it reads 500/700 rpm’s higher spin than my local Club fitters GC Quad.

Saw another video about going into the settings and changing the exact distance of the device (how many feet behind the ball) and the Elevation, Temperature and Humidity. Once he did this the numbers got more in line with the real world results. Saw him have the standard settings and hit driver, then moved the elevation to 4500 (like I hear E6 software actually suggests too) and the temp and humidity and hit a few times again and it brought it up about 15 odd yards where he states his drives should be. Seems like that may a slight fix for this issue to get the device in the correct realm of your driver distance. Hope this helps.

As a new launch monitor player, Golf Boy is very interesting. The putter in particular is excellent.

Having watched your course vlogs for over a year now, I know you hit Driver 240 to 260, so those figures seem way off. It's probably pretty good for gapping shorter irons, but i think a 20 yard deficit isn't accurate enough to recommend it for the Big Dog.

Does this device adjust or normalize for limited flight (80%) range balls?

Have the club path and club face data improved? I'm most concerned with launch direction and shot shape while keeping up the swing over the winter. Distance accuracy is not really what I need.

Would love to see a comparison of these numbers to what you get on your GC3.

Have you compared the Garmin R10 to that GC3 / Launch Pro you have?

I like it with the awesome golf simulator driving range coach is fantastic. Just can’t save the data unless I have missed something.

Just curious if setting the R10 up even with the tee height would make the driver readings more accurate? Since that is the suggestion for iron shots. Just purchased one yesterday and should have it by the end of the week.

Gabe, I've found indoors in my simulator setup I have the best luck with 10' to screen and closer to 6' to the R10 behind me. The spin numbers still hinder some really good drives though. That being said, did you happen to check out the fact that you can calibrate the unit now in the Garmin app before use? Not entirely sure how much it helps but it definitely takes a moment to do something internally when you run the calibration. I've played plenty of rounds without calibrating just fine but others swear by it being required every use.

Getting exactly the same results as you, I use in conjunction with zeep golf and zeep gives me 3_5 mph faster with driver. i.e Garmin 97_99 zeep 97_102

I purchased one a month ago. Could not get accurate numbers indoors (garage hitting into net) Apparently the radar can deflect off of concrete causing misreads. Tried everything even laid down carpet to no avail. Fortunately I purchased from site you recommend and they let me return it no questions asked. I probably will have to go for Skytrac or Foresite. I will definitely buy from Play Better great customer service

Man I wish I liked mine more. Waited 4 months to get it and sent it back three days later. Spent 7 hours over a three day period trying it out and was greatly disappointed. My net is only about 7’ tall so moving it to 8’ away wouldn’t catch any wedges. (Almost put and 8 iron over it). Too hard to set up for accurate numbers for me. I had some other issues with trying to use an older iPad and it was boring squatting down to look at my phone after every shot. If I had a garage to hit in with a projector and just wanted something fun to play on this would be great. Unfortunately, for me, I was hoping for something this wasn’t. Can’t afford what I’m actually looking for.

i currently have skytrak but thinking of getting R10 for a radar type application plus i can use outdoor. problem indoor my screen is about 6-7ft away from where i hit my ball then the other side wall is only 5ft will this work?

Watching the ball go from the tee to the screen, the R10 is pretty spot on from what I saw.

Hi Gabe, I have grabbed one of the Garmin units recently and done a few sessions indoors and out. One thing I tried was a direct comparison on a range session between the Garmin App and the Awesome Golf App (Coaching Session within the driving range). Comparing shots to a known target on the range (measured with the range finder) I reckon the Awesome Golf numbers were more accurate for the driver. Being that the metrics are calculated using algorithims by the unit rather than "measured", I am assuming the software is the difference and that Garmin has the ability to improve theirs..... I'd be very interested in your take on the comparison between the two softwares (and even throw in a range session on the E6 Connect range as well.....?) and see if the numbers are different and also to compare against real world numbers for accuracy....... For a cost v benefit this unit is 100% value for money in my opinion - as an 18 handicap it is more than accurate enough to help me make improvements I reckon........ Thanks for the channel and the great content you provide !

For under $600 it's a good one for sure. Still I just found it awkward to use and not nearly as accurate compared to the GC3 I have now. Of course a GC3 is not practical for everyone, but you do get what you pay for when it comes to launch monitors.

Hi - you might be getting some "randomness" based on how far your mat has moved LEFT over the course of your shots.......means you're constantly moving the ball left of the line of sight of the R10? just a thought....the mat has moved a couple of FEET from 7i to driver!!!!

To me I feel like it undereads the driver forsure. I found on the corse I'm constantly hitting 20 yards further on average

How far left and right do you think you need to remove anything metal? Wondering if my metal wall control (heavier duty peg board) is affecting my Garmin. I have at least six feet to the left of the device and my curtain starts roughly around where the hitting area is at 8ish feet. I feel like most shots are short and wondering if that’s potentially the issue and I should extend the curtains

A question, you said it's supposed to be at mat height but it looks like you put it on the floor. I've seen other videos that use a stand to raise it to mat level and say they get great numbers. What were you doing it to level it with the mat? (They also run a calibration after setting it up FYI.)

i've only had my r10 for a few months. really struggle with it indoors in my garage. it only registers about 40% of my shots. I don't think i'm 8' from my net though, very limited space (can't even hit a 3w or my driver cause I hit the ceiling with them on my follow through). so that's a bit frustrating, haven't taken it to the range yet. It's so new i'm worried someone will just run up and grab it and run away... lol.

It's great device. I use voice caddie300 with it sometimes for driver distance but the flight tracker with my driver is pretty accurate which is what I need practicing at home.

Great video. I have the R10, and on the range, it's spot on, even considering range balls, with lower spin & lower carry. On course (I always play nine holes, really early, hitting two balls, worst ball, or best best ball), I find it quite challenging getting the R10 level (a little cardboard square solves that). But again, spot on, probably even more accurate. The problem is driver, distance & spin, always short by 20m or so (22yrds), and spin about 800-1000 too high. Also, it doesn't measure my 56 & 60 full swings, probably, as they go straight up into the air. However, since gapping my wedges at 75% (10 to 2 on a clock), my wedge game has been superb. I got my playing hdcp down from 26.2, to 16.1 over 4 competitive rounds. I know, using my gaming ball, Honma tw-s, perfect lie, no wind, that 10-2 strikes go: Pw 102m Gw 94m Sw 83m Lw 73m 9-3 strikes go: Pw 68m Gw 58m Sw 47m Lw 36m 8-4 strikes go: Pw, 30m Gw 25m Sw 20m Lw 15m

The garmin algorithms are short on distance because spin calculations are off. Try awesome golf. Their distance algorithms are almost spot on.

I got mine nearly a year ago, and with the android app it is super buggy. I really don't want to go to apple so this might go to waste if they don't update their android app.

My coach had this R10 and it missed nearly 80 percent of the shots, and those it did grab missed the club path. Additionally it would auto shutoff several times during our session. Needless to say, he returned it.

Feel the need to tell you as a friend, without you having a projector in order to look toward a target on the screen ahead of you, you are strictly focusing on the ball and from everything I have read and learned, that is a bad way to practice. The ball should never be your target or you will for sure start "hitting" at the ball and not at your target. Thus, the fat shots as well as thin shots. A person that practices this way will hit the ball all over the face of the club but rarely center strike / sweet spot. I know this was not the basis of this video, but wanted to throw it out there.

really you have no idea if the shot shape is right unless you are playing a fade and a draw it shows that . Thats is .Say I am playing a fade aim left and watch it go right and vice versa .

It's a fun machine, BUT it will drive you mad as it MISSES 95% of chip shots indoors. You will end up turning off chipping. That's the one thing I hate about it.
