Dan Johnson talks to Jessica Koss about the Garmin Virb series of cameras and the D 2 Aviators wrist watch.
Garmin virb is a 2.1-megapixel camcorder with no optical zoom. It is the first attempt at an action camera with built in ANT+ and GPS functionality. It is also an excellent video camera. Garmin Virb Elite has a unique design. It isn't exactly a barrell, nor is it boxy. It is more of a cross between a flask and a flashlight. The camera is a bit larger than most other action cameras we are used to.
Garmin VIRB Elite case is protected from dust, as well as from moisture on class IPX7. It means that the device is possible to be immersed to water to 1 m depth and to be hold there during 30 min -- and nothing is going to happen. If you are looking for a great camera with GPS and possibility for external sensors then this is probably the best product for you.
The Garmin VIRB stores video and photos on MicroSD, MicroSDHC and MicroSDXC memory cards and has no internal storage. It captures full HD video as H.264 files at a resolution of 1920x1080 at 30p frames per second and 16-megapixel resolution stills as JPG files. The Garmin Virb is also an excellent video camera. There are various modes (quality, size) including time-lapse. The great thing about the Garmin Virb Elite is that the camera also records signals from ANT+ compatible sensors. When you create a video, the Virb actually records all these signals and you can overlay them later in your final video.

Compact and capable of shooting rich, high-definition, wide-angle footage, VIRB X and XE boast an all-new form factor allowing for more mounting options. Waterproof to 50 meters, the updated camera design is even more rugged, and doesn’t require an external case for underwater shooting.
The Garmin VIRB XE Action Camera is engineered with a 1-touch record switch on the top of the camera and a dedicated shutter button for still photos in the same place.
