Fun to watch. 👍 British companies made a lot of interesting record changers in the good old days. Too bad no company still makes a good changer. A lot of the old ones are being repaired and continue to be used. I'm quite happy with the models that don't automatically measure the size of the record. By the early sixties you wouldn't be mixing 7" 45s, 10" 78s, 12" 33-1/3 records. But it is fun to see how different changers measured the size. We did have fun playing records at the wrong speed. We had chipmunk songs long before "The Chipmunks".

Hi Nick. Hope your well. You been kind enough to answer my questions in the past. I bought a Dansette HIFi model as a Christmas present and of course the cartridge is missing! Would you have a replacement? Or is there a method to adapt a Ronette 105 replacement cartridge to it? Otherwise will the 210 drop into the Dansette enclosure because if it’s still for sale and you can’t help with the 209 I will buy it if you can get it to me by Dec? Thanks. Look forward to your reply

Hi Nick, thank you for this video! I just bought an RCA Victor with this exact turntable in it. In the store, we were able to test the turntable and it worked. Now that it is home, I can get it working. The manual and the automatic OFF - ON-Reject buttons move in together, and the table doesn’t start spinning. Is there something I can do to fix it?

I have an issue with mine where the tone arm positions itself correctly over the start of a record, but then springs sideways while dropping onto the deck. Any tips to remedy this please?

I just serviced one of those today (just for fun, I'm not a professional repairer) and I noticed the arm won't go to the groove when playing the first record in a stack, bit it will work on subsequent records, any ideas? Thanks in advance

Hi. Those old decks can be quite a problem if everything is not completely free from the sticky grease. It looks like the reset mechanism only works after the 1st record. If you reload the stack and start play again does it still not operate?

@@nickadams5411 Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, if I reload the stack, it won't drop the arm on the first record, resting the arm on its support, but it will work on the subsequent records. It happens regardless of record size (12, 10 or 7 inch). I thought that the tonearm was getting caught by the size sensor arm, as they are really close together, but the resistance on the tonearm is coming from the underlying mechanism. The motor spins without noise, but seems weak, sometimes the table stops in the middle of the change cycle. I wonder if I should disassemble the motor to give it a thorough cleaning, maybe that will help improve the torque. I wish I could get this one working, I cleaned it well and installed an old-fashioned Pfanstiehl P-228 ceramics cartridge just for kicks, sounds beautiful!

@@mr.grumpygrumpy2035 The motor should not be the problem, unless it is binding. Easily checked by spinning the shaft. A very common fault is the struggling to turn the table , caused by sticking parts. Also the rubber wheel slips. Make sure the rubber wheel is soft and grippy with no hard or glazed surface. They nearly always need the surface grinding.

@@nickadams5411 Yes, thanks, the idler wheel is soft, but it was a bit glazed. I sanded it down just a bit, but I may have to go back and do it some more.
