This restoration is a Garrard type a turntable that was purchased on eBay it’s just like the one Darrel purchased in 1960 and gave up in favor of a single player. Everything about this turntable is mechanical like an old Swiss watch one must be extremely careful never to force any part of the mechanism to work bending or breaking one of the many moving parts render the turntable useless as there’s not one He could find that would repair and parts are rarely available.

Thanks for the guided tour of repairing the Garrard turntable. It's a great service to those of us who prefer to repair and reuse good items, rather than purchasing new items that are often inferior.

Superb TTs, I have also restored many. OH thank you saying 'GArrard' and not 'GErrard'! Considering Garrard in England began by making watches it makes perfect sense.

Hi Lupe, this is awesome! I have one of these. the color is more dark grey, but it belonged to my dad and it's probably been over 20 years since used. I would like to refurbish it so thank you for posting this video!

Hello. I wondered if you might be able to answer a question. I recently bought a Garrard R.F. 80M turntable. The motor works, I have the 45 and the 33 spindle, the speed dial turns, the belts look pretty good, it even has a plinth. If your questions I have are these one I can't get the start button to stay over to play. It will slide and if you hold it the platter will continue to turn but if you let go it stops. Secondly my biggest concern right now is I cannot get the tonearm to move from the resting position. I can move it up and down but it will not move left or right. Is there some secret or trick that I need to know to get this thing to move? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Garrard Model R. C. 80 (from about 1950) which has a problem. I have had it cleaned, oiled and basically refurbished, BUT it has one problem I can't (or the technician) figure out. When the record player is turned on all seems to work well, then I have the record drop (which it does according to size and speed), the tone arm then lifts up and moves over to drop and play the record but instead lifts back up and returns to its' holder and the changer shuts off. I can't get the arm to play the record and go through a normal cycle. I can't figure out what is wrong. Any ideas would be appreciated.
