Today we mess around with two karaoke machines with black and white CRT displays to show lyrics and images from CDGs (graphic CD) Very crappy products that did not serve much function other than CD and cassette players with a very bad lil speaker that would distort before getting louder than my own voice...
////// Please do not try this at home, For real... CRT screens implode violently, especially the cheap ones without safety bands like we see in this video! Shrapnel scratched up my computer screens from 6ft away . glass even found in the ceiling tile above .. \\\\\\

Garret, I have one hint. You got to be more careful with these CRT junks, when you destroying them or having fun. There's about 6 to 10kV of voltage from the flyback, driving the CRT deflection, by the fat cable. It's possible to shock you a little when you hit them accidently with hammer, knife or so on the upper side of the tube or close to that cable. Have fun and keep it up. Just decided to leave it that comment.

it would work but not that well. those things are just crap and distort quite bad with any kind of music input in the mic port. or could just use a cd(more likely to skip on every hit tho) but i guess it was more to smash it than make it fuctional

Don’t you realize that CRTs are no longer produced in the normal consumer market. Some would argue that that means they are vintage. OH NO NOT THE VINTAGE

The Audio Logic unit doesn't look that bad, it would be nice to get one of those, put a much better speaker in it and a Raspberry Pi Zero, hooked up to the CRT and make a internet radio player.

I have that exact Realistic amplifier! I don't really use it a whole lot though and it's in worse condition. I blew up some tiny speakers with it back when I was an idiot 13 year old wanting to blow stuff up like you :)

Cool destruction. Just wanted to mention that CRTs often have high voltages and can really hurt you if you manage to touch them in the wrong way. Kinda cringed when you were getting close to it! :)

Haha yeah :D But I was tapped into the 8 ohm output - distorted audio zaps feel like 110v shocks but with a wild frequency that I find messes with me much more than normal 110v shocks haha

@@GarretClaridgeMeerkat ah in that case it might actually have a transformer inside of it, for the 8 ohm outputs, and if you send a truly clipped signal into anything inductive it can certainly cause inductive spikes which might be what happened, however it could also be that you're somewhat sensitive to it too
