Tsoknyi Rinpoche recorded this video interview with Garrison Institute co-founder Jonathan Rose in September 2013. He discusses the "subtle body" and the Western focus on thinking and material existence and a reified sense of self that can distort it. He calls this "high-class suffering," and it's an occupational hazard in highly developed countries which have highly developed cognitive education, whereas, Rinpoche says, "the emotional development is a little bit weak. I see a lot of suffering based on that." He offers actionable insights into how to relieve it, cultivate a healthy, connected sense of self, and rediscover basic, instrinsic well-being.

Important comments about the impact of Western, industrialized culture and how our emphasis on the cognitive can cut us off from our feelings. Rinpoche emphasizes the essential need to connect with one's body and emotions, become able to *sense* them rather than think about them without feeling them, before one attempts to move into practices involving lovingkindness and compassion for others. Since practices of lovingkindness are often considered introductory and basic, this teaching is very valuable.

I understand him...he's talking about how can we send that ultimate realization from the innermost subtle part...to the actual body and ego...and get the ego and body to play along....but the body and mind will always play their own games.

Basically...enlightement is in front of your face and you don't fucking see it...and also the feeling of existence is free for everybody and the act of pointing someone towards it is easy....all you gotta say is "atl wins"
