He was worn out and his voice was shot at this point, but somehow that was the magical combination that makes this performance one of the greatest Garth moments! That, along with the authentic VHS affects, has captured the high point of my country music teenage years! Thanks Garth for rocking the 90s!

Garth can hold his own, but no one will ever come close to them good ole Georgia Satellite Boys.
@Wayne-m9i19 күн бұрын
I agree. Most songs he remakes or sings in his concerts kick the originals ass to hell and back. But there are some that he never should've attempted to sing. One song he sang in his concert at LSU, Garthquake. He sang Don't Close Your Eyes by Keith Whitley. IMO, he never should've even thought about trying that song. Oh he did a good job, don't mistake me for anything but a Garth addict. It's just NO ONE can sing DCYE better than Whitley. But maybe that's how Garth shows respect, even without knowing he's doing it. Maybe he intentionally doesn't sing those songs as good as he can to say no one can sing it better than the original artist.

Watching this video at 39 years of age only brings back nostalgia. As someone who grew up in the best decade ever in the 90s I feel sorry for those growing up in a Covid world. You didn’t have all the hate, division, and bullshit that you have now with social media. God I hope I land in a hot tub time machine that takes me back to the 90s forever. If you’re my age or older you know exactly what I am talking about.
@rdubisar12 жыл бұрын
Yes, John Gable, I do know what you're talking about. I happen to be 20 years, older than you, but regardless. The video to this song, made by the Georgia Satellites, was actually played on the Nashville Networks Jammin; Country, is how I first saw it. There;s just something about that Southern style of rock and roll that has always appealed to me.

You know what else we had that they got rid of that I think changed kids for the worse because they did? Saturday morning cartoons. If you notice all this crap started when they got rid of Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, The Coyote and Roadrunner, Elmer Fudd and the rest of the good ones.

Garth began in 1989! 30 + years later selling out stadiums and playing songs from 1989 that people love to this day!! Your problem is how he puts on his concerts I suspect! I’m sorry, but playing the intro to it 15 billion times, is Aggravating. I do not think that Garth Uses drugs, and I sure hope not, because doing something like that is a real “crackhead” type thing. And I know someone will say something stupid like: “you would know wouldn’t you???.” And before it gets said I will answer that. “No I do not smoke crack!!” . Never have! Never will! I just know a neighbor that used to play the same song over and over and over and over and over again while smoking crack. You try hearing “Rock the Casbah” for several hours nonstop, and have your neighbor come by at 6a sharp all buck eye’d, asking if u have any instant coffee she could borrow….. then you can confirm with the neighbor said, she stays up all night smoking crack, no doubt about it!!!

You obviously don't know what the hell you're talking about. This was an encore. Everyone left the stage after the main set. He stayed out and kept playing the same riff over and over again while running around to "get Garth back out on stage". It was all staged that way. And very well done.

@radivel111 ай бұрын
His vocal version of the song wasn't great but it was serviceable, Garth is a great singer, (like, try listing to Hank Williams Jrs version, yikes) but the lead guitar was straight up awful. Didn't do the riff at all! Why not? Deadened the entire experience of the song. Too much background instrumental noise and random things too, so when it came time to charge the song and focus on the best parts, it was just drowned. Like, 4/10 maybe? 6/10 singing, 2/10 lead guitar, 3/10 rest of musical experience
