I am a 74-year-old Black Man who grew up with Gary Moore, since his early days with Skid Row, Thin Lizzy, a must is Black Rose, where he does a Metal version of Danny Boy. Please check out the album Wild Frontier, he does Irish-Celtic Metal. Also check out Out in the Fields, with another Irish legend Phil Lynott, who was a Black Irishman. Must listen to more types of music. Blues, Classical, Flamenco, Rock/Hard Rock/Heavy Metal, Jazz. and Reggae.

You ask how you had never heard of Gary. It's weird. Gary could put 30,000 fans into a stadium in Europe but couldn't put 3000 into a hall in the USA. Looks for his Fender 50th anniversary Red House Hendrix tribute. It will blow your mind also.

really like your reaction to this masterpiece. Gary has many different versions of this Roy Buchanan song ( I guess he was a master improviser ) . This particular version is my personal fav. .Many years ago I was privileged to mix the sound for Roy at Club Bene in NJ .a few times . Roy and Gary were masters at seeming to extract any imaginable human emotion out of their instruments (crying , screaming, , etc.) Bless them

I think a lot of people unfortunately aren't familiar with Gary. He was an Irish musician and was much more known in the UK. Same with a band like Thin Lizzy. They were an Irish band and in the USA rock radio basically plays one song "The Boys Are Back In Town" and they were a huge band, releasing albums from 1971-1983. Again much more known in the UK.

I just wanted to add on to what kevin the truck driver wrote already and was spot on as to why you were not familiar. The following is a paragraph from Wiki: In the mid-1970s, Moore was involved in a bar fight which left him with permanent facial scarring. According to Eric Bell, Moore was hanging out with his girlfriend at Dingwalls, when two men "started mouthing about Gary’s girlfriend. What they’d like to do to her." After Moore confronted them about it, one of the men smashed a bottle on the bar and slashed Moore's face with it. This had a profound effect on Moore. "It did change him," said Bell. "A lot of that pent-up anger and emotion would come out in his playing. And it came out in other ways too. It must be a hard thing to come back from something like that." During the 1980s, Moore would try to hide his scars in photographs and videos by looking down or being shot from a distance. Just to add, Gary died of a heart attack in a hotel room in Spain from alcohol poisoning. So tragic a figure yet so brilliant at his craft.

Love your reactions man, your open minded and when you are open mind enough to explore outside your comfort zone the end result is this, Gary Moore is and has always been my number one favorite guitarist of all time, its too bad he didn't get the air play in the u.s he received in Europe where he was so much more popular, but I would love for you to checkout his performance of his song called "empty rooms" live in Stockholm in 1987, anyway love your channel and you just touched the surface with Gary, peace.

Anyone familiar with early Fleetwood Mac probaby knows the sad story of Peter Green’s mental health struggles throughout the ‘70s. by the turn of the decade, Green had started to unravel, completely losing interest in music. It was around this time that he loaned the guitar to a then-unknown teen guitar wunderkind he’d befriended by the name of Gary Moore. Moore eventually was eventually prompted by Green to purchase the instrument - Peter wanted to make sure “it would have a good home” - for the same $300 that green had paid for it. The Les Paul soon became Moore’s signature instrument as it had been Green’s. He played it on his 1973 solo debut, throughout his stints in Thin Lizzy, and on his signature solo song, 1978’s “Parisienne Walkways.” He even used the guitar on a tribute to its former owner, the Peter Green covers album “Blues for Greeny” in 1995.

If you wish to really hear Gary Moore pour out his soul with the 'cerebral perfect notes' as you say then listen to The Loner - Live at Hammersmith Odeon kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqd4gq-dsajThXU.html His guitar tone is absolutely spine tingling and he soaks every bit of feedback and color from each note making it wail and cry. The band is on point too. One of the most transcendental performances ever.
