Been a fan for 44 years. Since I was 15. This year, I will be 60. I will die a Gary Numan fan. I am so proud of him and love him dearly.

One of my favorite things about getting older is seeing Gary Numan and his family grow. What a gift! Absolutely amazing!

I remember a newspaper here in Australia said Gary was a poor man’s David Bowie which made me so angry that I still haven’t bought that particular newspaper since . That was in the early 80’s . I don’t forgive or forget .

I'd love to speak to that journalist who wrote, "no-one of any worth would be influenced by Gary Newman" and see what they have to say for themselves now!

Gary is a musical pioneer, the way he was treated early in his career is a travesty, total respect for Gary reinventing himself and coming back the way he has, he is unique.

Was at Wembley, when he walked out on stage I was crying. Been a Numanoid since 1979 and always will be, through the good times and the bad times, and now the resurrection. An incredible songwriter, musician and technological genius, someone who pushes to the limit and beyond with synth sounds and indeed sonic sounds, Omnisphere is a brilliant piece of software that he uses and some of the sounds he coaxes from that make me think "how did he do that??" Cannot wait to see what he comes up with next...........

The British press absolutely hated him but fortunately it just made the fans ( me) just love him more! I’ve seen him live many times over the years including being devastated at Wembley in 81 when he decided to retire. I’m waiting patiently for May where he will be playing Glasgow with The pleasure Principle and Replicas albums. I can’t believe at the age of sixty I’m still able to go watch Gary Numan live. First concert. The Pleasure principle tour Glasgow Apollo, my first concert and his first live appearance. ❤🖤❤️🖤

What a legend. I confess to shedding a tear at the end. Third row and centre at the first Wembley gig, missed the second unfortunately, Australia is just a little too far out. He played as big a role in my teen years as anyone could. Truly someone to aspire to. Deepest respect Gary. You are a true legend.

I appreciate that Garys not a big fan of his back catalogue. However, we are - Your music was so groundbreaking - Please don't underestimate or undervalue your your back catalogue - pure GENIUS - 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✨️🙏❤️

Just saw him with FLA and Ministry a few weeks ago in Toronto. What a show he put on. I feel embarrassed that I never stayed connected with him. Ran out and bought two CDs the day after to support the cause.

Articulate and modest very grounded best records of all time i remember when i was 11..12 ..got my first record. Absolutely a legend...his music has a mystery to it ..i went to see him.play at the ritz manchester last week and i was absolutely in a different planet since then ...outstanding artist ..i have great admiration for him.hes soo magical and i cant thank Mr Numan enough ❤❤

Gazza! As an Aspy, his compositions are language to me. I love the rationalizing with having a big shot of Tequila preshow to focus. He takes the worst tasting, nastiest booze made. Hard to get a habit when you want to vomit after I dont know about flying a Zero as a Yank but having flown in very small planes I totally see what he means about voiding your mind because you could easily die if you are not entirely present. Cheers to all (N)humans.

He had a rough time off the press at the time but in the end he won he's the king off synth and puts today's music to shame I was nine when cars hit no one still one my favourite songs 45 years later.👌

In 1979 two transformative bits of music, for me, was the Gary Numan song Cars and the Styx album Grand Illusion. I was also greatly moved by (then) Walter Carlos' Switched on Bach. A few short years later Duran Duran sealed my fate as a Bass player. My passion for this kind of music still resonates all the way back to 1979. At nearly 60 now, the music still takes me back to a moment in time. The best music always accomplished this. Savage ( Songs from a Broken World ) is the best bit of music I'd heard in nearly a decade. It seemed the back ground music to Covid. Chilling to think about.

Legend that is…Gary Newman! Wish I could go back in time… He was way ahead of his time… He’s actually very relatable!! Such an emotional story… Gary is such a humble person, which is so endearing.

I discovered Gary Numan in 1980 as a 10 year old. My neighbor friend introduced me and my other friends to "Cars". Every time I hear it it takes me back in time to the younger days. My oldest child has Aspergers, I think its called something different now. Anyhow it takes a lot of patience to understand him. He only has a few friends and it breaks my heart when he tells me he feels alone. On the flip side he does have a laser focus on things that interest him just like what Gary Numan talks about. My wife and I are doing exactly what Gary's parents have done, just letting him be himself. Thanks for the great music Gary.

I knew Gary's music back in the day. Loved the music and him. Then I never heard anything again. I have been listening to live concerts and saw Gary Numan. I took a listen and I didn't think this is how Gary truly is compared to the cars video. Listening to all songs, he is truly a genius. Thank you, I am a fan reunited. Rock n Roll Hall of Fame... wake up!

I got into synths and bought a Moog because of Gary :) I would say there was some kind of influence there :) I remember getting my hands on a Mini Freak synth and the first thing I programmed was a poly Moog type sound! guess what! Someone criticised me! asked me why are you trying to make Gary Numan sounds out of this modern machine! So un-original and old! I’m like ‘I wouldn’t be into synths if I didn’t listen to Numan! and when I mess with a machine, Gary sounds will always be a blueprint to me as a starting point and I have fun doing it’ plus, I was annoyed with people complaining as I have the skills to programme!!! thought they would appreciate my efforts :) I create other sounds as well! I’m open to try everything :) but Gary’s sounds always the ones that started it all for my synth passion

Replicas had the cassette in 1980 my dad saw Gary on Saturday night live and bought it….the song was I down in the park am praying to the aliens. That was the one that we loved. But it was the entire album that was good… are friends electric….down in the park. Later when I got a synthesizer many of the patches are named after Gary or are called numan. He is a legend. Jarre, Gary , Vince Clarke, Kraftwerk.

i was 15 in 1979 & his 1st appearance on TOTP was as big a thing at our school as the 1st Pistols’ appearance 2 years previously. he out-did the lot of those chart acts by being outside the pop or punk or new wave or disco king or rock cliques whilst bringing probably the coolest act of the 2nd half of the decade to the show since Bowie or Bolan before . watching this video has been an inspiration because I’ve experienced those same challenges Gary has lived with my take on the world & those filling it on a sometimes overwhelming basis is soo familiar. Bless the guy & his loved ones 😁👍🐢👽❤️

His US tour with Ministry had a stop in Biloxi, MS - for reasons I'll never understand - and I got to go. Not surprisingly in a state that tends to frown on music of the non-yee-ha variety, the crowd wasn't huge, but it was still a top-notch show. His newer stuff is solid, and the energy never waned. Great gig all around. Turns out, you CAN make good music without fiddles and banjos. You hear that, Mississippi?

Just shows, nice genuine honest people can win in life, im a fan but not a massive one, but ive always rooted for him, cos he just deserves it. Keep being sweet, vulnerable, chaotic, genuine you Gary, you absolutely 100% deserve every success you achieve(d) past present and future. One more thing, just.....Thank you Gemma, just thank you, for caring and for loving someone, unconditionally, "warts n all" as they say, as thats what love is, acceptance of each others frailties, and supporting each other through thick, thin, and sometimes thicker! An absolute match the stars, and destiny decided were right for each other and who needed each other....those "stars" eh? Mischievous little buggers! 🙄😏🥰 PS....a massive shout out to Garys Mum and Dad, who stood by, in his own words, a difficult child no one wanted to educate, deal with, or understand, at a time in the 70s when difficult kuds were thrown in childrens homes, mental asylums or borstals...which for some parents, was an easy or at least, EASIER choice. That revelation melted my heart. 💖

What a truly amazing documentary about a truly amazing guy

I’m 47 and so endeared to Gary. Such a normal and down to earth man. 39:00 this breaks my heart (illness). Times haven’t changed much in the schools sadly.

I totally get it. I was born in 1957 and knew at an early age that I was different. It never concerned me much I just did what I had to do to get through. Fast forward to 2022 and I am 65. I had spent my adult life as a graphics/branding designer and was a bit depressed in semi-retirement because I needed the projects to be happy. Not for the money but the creative outlet. After some time seeing a therapist he suggested I take a test. As it turns out I have high functioning autism. As soon as I heard this it made sense. I consider myself fortunate to have been born this way yet I am glad I didn't know I was autistic when I was young as it may have given me pause with somethings that I did such as Porsche Racing. I would have has self imposed limitsthat may have held me back. Thanks Gary.

.....Gary's resurrection and feeling to music certainly was inspired by NIN and the resonating industrial soundscapes of the 1990's.....he realized that he needed to embrace and incorporate that era of music to continue successfully, ironically it was those musicians of the industrial scene that were heavily influenced by his first 3 albums of 1978-1979.....

I relate so much to Gary's view of 1970s aggression. I too am British and to be honest, what a thoroughly horrible place Britain was back then. Truculent, monosyllabic teenagers amid an age where even a courteous greeting was considered 'too square': Everyone seemed to be so terribly angry. Trouble is, for a short period of time anyway, it just made everyone else angry too. They were not pleasant times. Im so heartened, therefore, that Gemma and Gary found each other. I rather suspect, actually, that BOTH of them were two lost souls living in this angry world, unable to make much sense of it. What a magical combination it was, then, that Gary stumbled across that Moog; Gemma and Gary met: had their 3 lovely daughters- and the world got to hear the most enchanting, apocalyptic, low-end, growling, melodic roar - that is to this very day right on the cusp of 'cutting edge' without a shadow of a doubt. Not many people throughout history could one thoughtfully label as LEGEND, but Gary - with all that he contributed to the Dark-end of 20th century music - I believe you could indeed rightfully call him - LEGEND.
