I don't really have time to get on KZfaq to watch them all but I've listened to your very first podcast and I'm currently listening to the Dec 2016 until I catch up to the most recent one. Thanks for telling it like it is and helping people by not giving them BS advice. Gary: my biggest take away, "getting real with who you are NOT who you aspire to be". After a 25 year career for a traditional retail dept. store, I want to break away and jump in to an innovation co. and figure out what I can bring to the party. But it starts with knowing that FIRST for myself. ( ps my trainer turned me onto to you, I guess I've lived under rock. Shame on me! ) Im hooked!

My brother from another mother. Big brother Vee! Social media has truly blessed the startup community, I run 2 companies, one distributing wine and another in the medical services line. Both been around since the early 2000s and getting better & stronger every day, having over a hundred staff that "feed" off me on the daily can be mentally exhausting(in a good way), this show keeps my mind and focus where it needs to be. OMG! This is so true!! I don't have contact with my mom anymore, because she brings a lot of negative energy to my life. And she's been doing so since my childhood already. A day in the life! How many things can one man juggle? While I was watching, I started to think, "Wow, it must be hard for Gary to balance everything every day." But the truth is, in spite of it being hard, you probably find it simple because you're just living your truth and doing your best work. Very inspiring stuff!

I believe it's that "slight advantage" that makes the HUGE difference. Most people are not clear enough to know that "slight advantage." That "slight advantage" has a HUGE multiplier affect.

The only thing that pisses me off is that this man gives so much value and no one ever gives the credit or recommendation to him that he deserves. If I had heard his name more often with the proper senteces like "thank you Gary" or "I couldn't have done it with out Gary" I would have been deep inside all his content sooner. Really easy to shoot first and ask questions later. Figure out how you are going to win, then attack. And things will always change, but you have to have a plan otherwise you're spinning tires.

Here Gary talks about switching out the time you spend with people who are a negative influence, and a positive influence on you. I heard him reference this in another video and say that you get taken in the direction of the sum of your 5 greatest influences, and that some of those can be influences from a distance, not people you know in person. I'm planning to test that thesis. Has anyone else tried that? For example consuming video, podcast, and books by people like Gary that we want to be/think like? (still authentic to us, but in a mindset/attitude way)

Self awareness really should be step #1 in figuring out what you want to do. It takes patience and is a process. But make it a major focus. It would be a shame to devote 20 years to something you realized you didn't really want or enjoy because you didn't give it enough thought on the front end.
