Jamey Jasta from Hatebeeed is a legitimate death metal fan. He did a side death metal label in the 90's and was from the generation that listened to both death metal and hardcore. His band took a lot of influence from death metal too and did it at a time when that wasn't necessarily cool until they made it so. They toured with metal bands early on and continue to do so

I will never understand how it is that some people have still got time for the nostalgia albums and bands of their youth,(Unless of course they were good metal albums) my gateway bands were Metallica, Pantera, Chaos Ad era Seps, Biohazard, and Fear Factory, but as with Seps as Soon as I started working my way back from Arise to Morbid Visions, Chaos Ad got forgotten about very quickly. As did Pantera and FF as soon as I started listening to first 2 Entombed, ND, Bolt Thrower, Morbid Angel, Carcass, Malevolent Creation, Sinister, Morticion, and what ever else I could get my hands on. For some people Korn etc would have been the equivalent of what Pantera or Metallica was for me, but you get into better bands and you MOVE ON. CFH is a way better album than the Korn Debut but no way is the nostalgia going to be enough for me to bother rebuying it.
