At the time when we were looking around at caravans, I noticed an article that cropped up in a few magazines. The most detailed, was by the late, great John Wickersham. Gas blockages caused by the "new" system of a pigtail adaptor, carrying high pressure gas to a bulkhead mounted regulator as opposed to the earlier system of a cylinder mounted regulator carrying low pressure gas into the 'van. In the early days of bulkhead mounted regulators, post September 2003, the regulator was more often than not, mounted lower than the gas bottle itself. A reaction between the internal "make-up" of the pigtail and the gas, now at a much higher pressure than before, caused an oily residue, that seeped into the regualator causing low gas pressure and in worse cases, a complete blockage. Soon after 2003, remedial work was soon carried out in various ways, but, there may still be the odd caravan for sale, that could suffer with this not dangerous, but annoying issue.
I'm by no means an expert, nor, someone who would know/modify such things. Just the sort of bloke that'd be miffed if the cooker stopped working and I'd struggle to make a brew 😁 Just passing on a possible irritating issue that could occur with your pre-owned tourer; in KZfaq land. Needless to say, any modifications to such equipment must be carried out by a qualified engineer. The consequence of modifying these type of things without proper knowledge doesn't bare thinking about.
