In part 2 of this amazing knife making video series, Tobias Hangler (Graz, Austria) shows us how he moves forward in the knife-making process of his Go Mai blade with an ApexUltra core using an induction heater! Forging a knife with an induction heater can be as easy as 1-2-3 and you'll see him forge the tang in this very informative video!

I love how whenever there's a power hammer being used, the video editor makes the music tempo match the strikes.

Hi Reuben thanks for noticing that! I’ve always enjoyed power hammer action shots but I try to make them extra fun by editing it to the beat of the backing music I chose. Thanks! - Vinz

Thanks man that’s very nice of you. Great idea by the way. I have been contemplating on making one single video versions of all the series I’ve made. It is just very hard to condense them that’s all hahaha! How long would you think would be a good watch for you? 30 minutes?

Hi Notabrit! Thanks for the comment! Great to hear that you also see the benefits of an induction heater! Did you get to watch the video we had on Induction Heaters for Heat Treatment? If not, it’s this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/puCXZsmIqrW8cmw.html Thanks for watching!

A hot shear is on my to build list, What do you do with all your little bits of damascus? Great to see the knife coming together. You can get that same stressing problem in a coal forge if you are using a small fire and or large pieces of steel because the heat source becomes very focused. Looking forward to the next one.

Hey bud! Yeah it would be interesting to see if anything can be made from all the bits cut off but in this specific case, there wasn’t any waste as the other half would be knife # 2 from the billet.

Do you grind of the welds at some point? Welding material must travel into the material when forging
@UKBladeshow
@UKBladeshow Жыл бұрын
Hi Anton. Great question. Yes, when you watch one of Tobias’ latest video here at the channel, he’ll demonstrate grinding off excess to ensure that the weld seams are all removed.

Induction is great, I have a 15KW. Unfortunately it shuts down very often despite my 20amp breaker and 4mm cables to a specific plug. Do you have a contact or someone having knowledge to guide me finding a solution ? thanks a lot and keep up the great work UK Bladeshow !

You need a cable at least 10mm sectional for your power and a bigger breaker. I already commented this and it was deleted looks like? I have the manuals and can send you screen shots or you can look up LH-15A induction heater

the weirdest bladesmith flex i see basically all forging instructors do, is to almost touch glowing hot steel while explaining things hahahaha all while i feel my knuckles almost burn off just holding the hammer while forging :D:D does experience really make dead nerve ends like that? haha

not really, sometimes im just too focus on it my finger can stay near hot metal. and only my left arm wear gloves. could just be sweat insulating my hand from the heat.
