No, this is going to move fast statewide, blowing around leaves without picking them up, often onto others property, or public sidewalk or street, is disliked by many people. If you are an owner of one of these noisy machines, stop whining, you should have seen this coming. Many noise ordinances were written specifically for these machines.

And home owners and businesses will have no choice if they want to pay for yard service. Besides, two stroke motors put out extremely high emissions, how long before the push to go carbon free hits this industry hard. Best get ahead of the curve.

There was no study done. Gas powered lawn equipment puts out very little pollution. They want to ban leaf blowers simply because they are noisy and makes it hard for people to watch their TV programs. The towns have no problems with gas powered mowers, line trimmers, chain saws, pole saws, seeders or tillers.

Vacuuming is a good idea. Blowing the leaves from on yard to another, or onto a public sidewalk or street, just moves the problem. Vacuuming, chopping, and composting is done by landscapers that know their business. As a homeowner, a hotel or other commercial owner, why would I pay for a noisy process that blows the same leaves every week? Waste of money, aggravates people that are trying to rest, care for an infant, or a hospice patient, or a night shift worker. If this man sought help for a low interest loan from his electric company, he would be better off. Let's compare the number of houses powered by electricity that explode, vs powered by gas....um. The house in Hyde Park that blew up is still in court. Luckily, the residents were not home. What is safer to store and operate, an electric appliance, or a gas appliance? Which house has a higher insurance rate, gas or electric? Unless you are Jacques Pepin, or a high end restaurant, you can't justify gas over electric for cooking.

Sorry, but you probably have a couple small trees in your .20 acre lot. Electric equipment works great for the 5 mins you need to blow leaves. They are not even close to the utility and power of a gas unit (which I'm assuming you've never used, clearly)

If you aren't in the field with hands on experience your comments are almost mute, the opinion of those who are in landscaping doing the work should be more important. Outdoors there is plenty of ventilation, most leaf blower operators use PPE such as ear muffs. Raking leafs especially on large areas is not viable for a business model. Maybe for your average home owner raking is fine. This is a example of over reach by government. Probably being endorsed by tech companies who stand to gain in the purchase of electric battery driven equipment.

If it where mute to others then government, etc. wouldn't be pushing for cleaner electric blowers .....which still emit toxins but at a much lower rate. I've been around enough of the things to know what I speak of. These machines emit toxic contaminants such as carcinogenic benzene as well as large amounts of other chemicals. Last year, the U.S. EPA reported on emissions produced from mowers, blowers and other small equipment and said emissions were 81% as high as the amount from standard sedans. If there are regulations in place for emissions from cars, then the same should go for toxic emissions that come from blowers/ mowers. It's not rocket science.
