I really like the front strap idea. Been trying to figure my tank straps out and that's the ticket.

When I did my camper frame I boxed my frame so that when I run the fuel filler through like you're going to do I can weld it on both sides of the frame. Tank looks good, should be plenty of room for everything under there now and it will be nicely protected from rear impact by the hitch

The frame will be boxed and the through piece will be welded on both sides!

Hey Puddin. Was there a reason you did not use a gas tank with driver side fill tube. You could have saved your spare tire well for a tire? Looks like the tube could have made it out the driver side below the floor with the same frame cut on the other side. Love the channel and your videos btw.

Love how you explain job task. Simple and to point then the execution if the work. While watching all your vids in past brings up a simple question. What name brand metal bits (step and twist ) do you use. I had a set that I was feed up using and threw them away. Thx for all you do.
@PuddinsFabShop4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I used the harbor freight step bits quite a bit! I’ve had good luck with them but here lately the quality have seemed to go down a little bit. So since I’ve been having less luck with them I learned to sharpen bits. I have a lot of dewalt bits. Cheapo ones I can get. Some hold a sharpening well and others can’t hold one cut.

No rubber between straps and tank?
@jayinmi37064 жыл бұрын
Any particular reason you didn't do a captive nut on top of those short straps at the back? Seems like it would be convenience to be able to unbolt them from underneath...unless you're going to make an access panel in the floor for access? Just a thought. Love the videos.
@PuddinsFabShop4 жыл бұрын
The nuts are welded to the strap. As long as they never strip I’ll be good 👍🏻thanks for watching
@jayinmi37064 жыл бұрын
@@PuddinsFabShop Right, but if you have to drop the tank, you'll have to unbolt it from the top. Once the floor is in, will you be able to get a wrench in there and will there be enough depth to pull the bolt out?
@PuddinsFabShop4 жыл бұрын
The bolts come up from the bottom. The nuts are on top of the strap and welded to the strap. To remove the tank I lay under the rear and just remove the two bolts. No wrench needed
@jayinmi37064 жыл бұрын
@@PuddinsFabShop OK, I misunderstood the layout. That makes more sense. I thought you had the nut on the bottom of the strap and were bolting it in from the top to pull it up tight. Makes sense now, thanks.
@PuddinsFabShop4 жыл бұрын
No problem. I may of mocked it up like that to get a bolt started. I don’t remember lol
