I am amazed at the amount of mis-information is set out by people on something like this. I too worked in this area at the time of the blowout. The facility I worked at was less than 7 miles from the well. Amoco knew this was going to be a sour well, end of statement. Although there was "sweet" wells in the same zone not far away from it.

lodgepole is 30 km southwest ish from drayton valley, the blowout signs are still on the two sites

@iloveapich Lodgepole is up near Edmonton kind of. I work up near there often, there's lots of wells up that way.

apache just completed an acid job on this well, she's back up to her 250 dec/day flow rate. this year'll be 30th anniversary of the blowout.

I was a core hand back then and knew some of the guys working the rig at that time. This was AMACOs fault. Everybody on this rig knew they were working on the edge but AMACO kept pushing the edge with cheap assed drilling practices. The whole thing was whitewashed.

Natural radioactive material is being brought up with the waste water. To be specific, radium 226. According to conservative estimates, the levels found in fracking water are 200 times the normal acceptable limit. Did your employer encourage you to spend your money quickly? You should because you are walking dead men. Time in this case in not on your side. Do the world a favor and don't procreate. We have enough mutations.
