I gotta say, the Korean subtitles + Julian's aesthetic from that era gives the whole thing an immaculate vibe that is hard to put in words, but it's mesmerising

Some of their best work. Lyrically and the arrangement. so disappointed they don’t play this more often.

Lolz not really their best work but they made it work somehow and they don’t play much from this album cause they don’t remember how to play the songs or forgot about them, this album was a hard time and they almost fell apart and they all had differences and were fighting each other
@lofigirl97rawrxd32 жыл бұрын
@@fluflammer1 to each their own. I understand they weren’t in a good place. The album was made differently then usual because they were often separated. This track was still solid regardless. I thought the sound worked and the production is solid.

Been listening to the Strokes for about 4 years and this is far and away my favorite song of theirs. Shame that they haven't played this live in 11 years :/ Jules has expressed an interest in playing more of their "deep cuts", so I am just waiting for the day when I see this in a live setlist again. They played Call it Fate for the first time live in 2021, so I have some hope at least.

Animals on TV singing about some pain that they once felt There's no one I disapprove of or root more for than myself I wanted to pretend it was better, better, better on the phone Didn't want to tell you I was jealous, jealous, jealous and alone So we talk about ourselves in hell To forget the love we never felt All the old jokes that work so well Universal truth was a moment's lie Don't try to stop us Don't try to stop us Don't try to stop us Get out of the way Got to get to climb your tree in the light of the living ghost I see She sees her father in that old man's eyes while secretly he stares at her thighs Animals on TV singing about some they felt at some point I didn't want to tell you I was jealous, jealous, jealous What's the point? As I watch the velvet drapes appear And the door was closed for forty years As we hide what we don't want to hear As we hide what's really in our ears He is coming from a part of hell Where lightning blue eyes don't go down well He can tell that we're obvlivious It's addiction of routine as well Making fools out of the best of us Making robots of the rest of us Innocence itself in America today Is a crime just like Cornel West might say Don't try to stop us Don't try to stop us Don't try to stop us Get out of the way

I really wish the strokes could perform in Korea, I love them sm Omg I forgot i left this comment so update: I went to the incheon pentaport rock fest and saw them live for the first time it was fucking amazingggg AND during the festival I dmed jules n had a whole convo w him ?! we talked abt how hot the weather was n he was saying that it seemed dangerous n told me to stay in the shade (i was screaming when he said this haha) I also took the opportunity and asked him if I could meet them after the show and his exact words were “maybe? should I come say hey?🤷🏻♂️ so weird you play a show and then just sit in a room alone” LIKE WHAT? I was honestly devastated tho bc it was already late af so I had to catch the bus to go home n missed this once in a lifetime chance (yea Ive cried over it many times LOL)

What does this song mean? What are they trying to tell us?
@Jezop3 ай бұрын
I think the song meaning can be interpreted in the song title. “Life is simple in the moonlight” when the sun goes down and the moon replaces it, our vision is limited similar to how when we’re ignorant on problems around us it makes life seem so simple and beautiful
