Gasifier - first run

Visit / presentteck for my new projects!
A project I worked on throughout high school. It was mostly scrap parts, built in an ill equipped and underfunded shop class.
I actually taught the teachers a few things on this one since they had no idea what it was before i started.
I leave this project up not because its a well built machine, I was 17 at the time, just look at it; but because it displays whats possible with nothing but percervierance alone.
After 3 years of independent research and fabrication, and about $100 for materials, it worked. This project landed me an internship at allpowerlabs.com which turned into 4 years of employment from internship, to Production and Shipping, to Reliability Testing and Engineering.
I now am working as a Machinist building air tools, with intents to incorporate small turbines into small scale renewable energy projects in the future.
I have a few thousand hours of experience with professional gassification systems which can be viewed on the APL youtube page or their website.

Right on! I appreciate the advise and great job on the build. I am going to be getting back to work on mine as soon as I can. Summer brings a lot of work around my house. Making it airtight seems to be a key factor all around. I look forward to your progress and will keep you informed of mine.

to reach far, you have to start near.perfection comes over time by analyzing mistakes and correcting them.

One of the thing you could do to get a blue flame is to cool the gases coming out of the reactor by pouring water on the metallic exhaust tubes ( silver color tube) using a small water pump or rather you could fabricate a condenser. Blue flame is the result of gas being cool and the air fuel ratio has to be in the right proportion, so you may have to pump air into the drum where you are burning away the gases.

yes it was distilling the Wood into a caraceen like compound that will burn once you get the water out.

Well you didn't sound dumb during the start up, but thanks for making it in fast motion, made me chuckle a couple times. Don't take the wrong way it was just little funny but good job and thanks for the video I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

Well what can I say this vid is at least 4 years old by now this beta model has been trashed and hope fully he has built a new better gas generator. Good vid though love the sped up footage

Holy sh!t dude.... reduce the size of your syn gas export pipe.... and a few inverted rise coolers... and make your initial combustion fire hotter.... and fu@k.. get a auto torch for christ sake... other wise keep up the experiments and good luck.. if u want more info ....

to me the fire at the end of the vid represents the loss of energy you would of had with conventional prosseses of combustion, i mean gasification aint so conventional , not shure why, i was gonna build a dule burner set up that allows any size fuel, 1 burner would produce smoke by burning trash and what ever then that smoke is vented to another burn chamber where large loges are burning and other dunnage

Dude this videos like 12 years old. I've worked through everything gasification as a paid job, and quit that job... I can say if your still researching gasification your wasting your own time so... 😁
