Thanks Danny, I didn't know they were originally NZ based, as a mentioned i'd never heard of the brand before. Also the only place I have seen these cars in the UK was from the £1 store. They had a small selection but I picked up a couple which I felt had some potential, again it'll be used for a gaslands build. Thanks for the recommendation on the paints, i'll grab a few off ebay!

Thanks Jim! I suppose it was a happy accident, still unsure why it only affected the rear quarter panel, though im thankful for that as had it melted the whole thing it would certainly have been trashed! I really enjoy these gaslands builds too, got some more lined up for future vids.

They are great castings for sure! very detailed, build quality is a bit lacking though as both Zuru's I own both have loose bases. From my experience though I have only come across Zuru once in the shops, they had at maximum 2 pegs worth of them. I purchased a couple I liked most and have since never seen them stocked or sold anywhere else. Aside from searching for them online they seem to be extremely rare to find, to top it off the online prices are often higher than equal Hot wheels or Matchbox. Shame really, they are really nice overall especially if your into customising them.

Thanks Janson! I have yet to have a post break on me but I think that's something that happens to all of us in the hobby at some point! I have another of these Metal machines lind up for a gaslands build in a future vid, I hope this one doesn't melt! :)

@@AlvarezAzel Normally, the mounting posts on diecast are rock solid, but over the past few years I've gotten ahold of a couple with an air bubble in the mounting post, and then it either crumbles or breaks apart. Hopefully you never find one like that, my last one was a '53 Chevy, but I recovered it. Also, beware of Project Source flat black paint, it seems to dry just fine, but then a couple of days later it gets tacky again, it's made by Krylon.

@@beltfed4624 Thanks! I haven't come across Krylon paints here in the UK yet, but noted i'll avoid that particular one if i see it. I personally use standard automotive paints from a can on my builds, this particular flat black is designed to go onto black plastic facades on real cars so I figured it'll be a decent performer.

Thanks Brian. I was about to throw it in the bin at that point! I enjoy doing the gaslands builds as they are certainly more relaxing to work on, you can kind of just do whatever you want with it. Like the rescue I did with this had it been a clean and tidy custom it would for sure have been binned but as its a gaslands I can try and work with it 🤘

Thanks! Yeah the plastic body really let it down and the shoddy build construction where the base was loose causing the wheels to rattle was a shame. However the actual casting is pretty nice it has very tidy edges and lots of extra details. Worth keeping an eye on if your ever shopping for inspiration. 🤘

@@AlvarezAzel Agreed~ The plastic quality and detail IS nearly on par with Mattel, so it doesn't really bother me. (That freakin chrome on the interiors is terribly robust tho... took 24 hours in bleach to get it off)

@@micahwhite7484 Indeed the chrome is very stubborn even on other brands too at times. I usually just give it a good degrease and then just primer coat over the top of it. I have had some misfortune trying to bleach or etch it off using chemicals, sometimes it has made it brittle or swell the plastic slightly.

@@AlvarezAzel Ok thanks, what kind of tube exactly did you use? In the meantime, I found some cable end sleeves in several sizes in my tools and bits collection... the small diameter ones make for good, short MG barrels and the wider diameter ones will make for some awesome exhaust piping.

@@colonelburton8451 From what I can recall, I purchased a pack of 1.0mm brass tubing from my local Model Shop, The brand was Albion Alloys and it came in a plastic tube with 5 lengths of brass inside. You can probably pick them up easily on eBay. I like using brass as its easy to cut and shape with basic hand tools. Cable end sleeves would be great too, I have also seen some people use the tip of a biro pen with the ink tube removed as an exhaust, however they do look a little overscale for 1:64th.

@@AlvarezAzel I assume they would be. I tried making a minigun out of cotton buds and it was ridiculous, even oversized for an A10 Warthog's Avenger cannon. I noted that the small sleeves I have left over are really well scaled for a 5-9mm MG, however the piping is very short, and clipping it would warp the material so it's only good for concealed weapons such as in your video but I think it will work great.
