What's fascinating to me is when certain talents come out in people that they didn't know that they had. In Sammy, its a kind of talent that would be unwanted and alien to him in his former life. You kept secrets. You stayed in the backround. If you did talk, you lied and conned. Like he told Diane Sawyer in that interview decades ago. Talk about a major irony that he's good at telling stories, when his entire life was totally against doing just that, lol.

I hung out in Bobby's social club here in Downtown brooklyn back in the late 80 s early 90 s I was in my late teens when I got close to Bobby ,he was a great guy and kept the neighborhood safe ,we had a crew of about 20 guys that hung out in the club on Sackett st , Bobby would take us out to eat sometimes ,he got some of the guys jobs in construction or private sanitation , Bobby took a liking to me and even more so after he saw how I handled a certain situation I won't get into , the last time I saw Bobby and spoke to him was at my father's wake just a few weeks before he was killed on April 13 th 1991 ,I was 21 at time and he gave me his phone number and told me from now on call me direct you don't have to ask so and so in the club to call me if you need me ,. I was very loyal to Bobby and loosing him still hurts to this day .

Gigante & the Genovese Family was ALWAYS stronger after Carlo Gambino's death. Always. Sammy has said it at least once on the 'net,' & John Alite, a low-level associate of Junior Gotti's crew for a couple of years, has said it a couple different times.

@@farzana6676 Indeed! I caught that, too! Even when Gotti was the "official" chairman of the Commission, the Chin was the "unofficial" chairman, not wanting the formal title, but everyone knew who really ran shit! The Chin, I also read, (I'm an amateur Cosa Nostra buff) was "more than happy" for the Gambinos to get called the "most powerful family in NYC" in all the papers and tabloids, as it took a lil heat off the Genovese Family, ya know? Yeah... After Gambino's death, the Genovese immediately started making moves, in places like Philly & Atlantic City, to grab the power. And they certainly succeeded! Ty for your comment. I appreciate someone who knows their stuff💯

@@HILAL19564 Gaspipe was sharp. He turned down the "boss" title from Tony Corallo, and he let Vic Amuso have it, Gaspipe settling for underboss. In reality, Casso was really calling the shots, while Amuso was the lightning rod for the cops! Very sharp, indeed.

Prolly pissed af that day griding all day ducking dummy coppas after lucking out a sure murder. The more bits this guy lets out r fuckin historical an legendary i enjoy the content this is gold. There isnt a replacement for sammys n hes giving out treasures. Ur young you dont shit u see papers n listen to fake af adults u grow up n realize taking all the men off the street aint that smart either. Someones always filling the void we kept our own safe from others nobody was robbing nothin near these guys outta fear. Ironically these guys effected crime rates coming down when they were moving thru nn into leadership roles. N when they gone the city started slowly but inevitably toward the spikes seen in the 70s.. Idk maybe give this guy some criminals parts hook em up young n lettem back outside again maybe itl help. City is hot rite now

The story that Sammy is telling us, is what everybody at the time (1987) thought were the facts concerning the attempted assassination of Gotti, by this religious crazy guy. Sammy fails to tell you the real story behind the murder of this innocent guy. First, his name was Jeffrey Ciccone and he was a mentally mild disable man, who happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time. As Gotti was leaving the club or was outside, a truck backfire with a loud bang that sounded like gunfire. Gotti ducked and one of his bodyguard pull out his gun and pointed it across the street. Mr. Ciccone saw the gun pointed at him, got scared, and ran like crazy. Then Bobby chased the guy and shot him in the legs. He was taken to where Sammy said, a candy store I believe. Sammy also failed to mention that Joe Watts tortured the poor guy before he finally shot him in the head. Just imagine what he went through, all he answered back was scriptures from the Bible, as Watts without mercy tortured him. Sammy rather play with the truth, than to admit that an innocent mentally disable man was murdered. I like hearing Sammy, but sometimes he plays with truth, to make the story more interesting, and to make himself look better.

@@dustins.2718 If you can't figure out what I'm saying, no one can help you understand. Watch the video again and see if Sammy admits that it was not assassination attempt on Gotti after all . Sammy says a shot was fired at Gotti and never said it was a truck that backfired. The disable guy was just there at the wrong time. If that guy was your son, I'm sure you would understand what I'm saying. Sammy should had said that they made a mistake, and they killed an innocent disable guy by mistake. Sammy side of the Alan Kaiser is also another example of him playing with the truth.

Hello Sammy, great stories as always! I think my biggest question about you in some ways is why choose this life at all? To an outsider it seems frankly terrifying. Living from day to day not knowing if you are being marked for death, perhaps for something that you did not do, or just for a simple mistake or misunderstanding. In addition, I've wondered if you were ever tempted to "cash in your chips" and leave the life - you seemed to be doing very well in legitimate businesses like construction and I've wondered if you were tempted to go legitimate. Or maybe that would have itself resulted in a contract on you?

Mob Boss, a book about the life of Little Al D'Arco is a good read if you are looking for more stories about organized crime. Confessions of a Mafia Boss about the life of Gaspipe Casso is okay but almost seemed to have been written by a sycophant.
