Gasser Blowout 9, held at Atmore Dragway in Atmore, AL March 16th 2019 was a great event despite the cool cloudy weather. The weather made for some tricky track conditions, but still over 50 gassers showed up to have fun and put on a show for the fans. There are three things really fantastic about this video. 1. That slo-mo out of the hole 2. That staging lady with the black skirt and checker stripe down the seam and 3. I'm 70 years old now this brings back memories, I always had hot rods when I was younger, I remember racing back in the late sixties, We just called it running somebody. We had the guy out there to flag us and my foot would shake so bad on the clutch Waiting for him to drop his hand, I thought I was going to get sick. Those were the good old days Peace out🚔🚔🚔 Always looking for the cops

Used to run Atmore a few years ago.....nice track. A lot of these guys used to come to Panama City FL for a big Nostalgic show/drag every year.....Country Boy can rip folks. Good video, thanks.

dumb question... what does the "C/G" 1:08 on the side stand for?

The "C" = weight of the car per cubic in. in this case about 11 to 13 pounds per cubic in. / the "G" stood for Gas

Why were a lot of cars doing a soft launch? The track looked pretty prepped to me. Some looked like they were asleep at the line where as others were cutting quick lights.

Most of those guys are footbrake only, just leaving off the converter. If you notice, earlier in the video, there were more fast cars launching hard, but the temp maxed out at 51 that day, wind, with no sun, so most of the faster cars packed it up for the day because they were getting loose on the top end. Clutch cars and big power cars were having trouble sticking it on the line all day as well. Atmore prep was on point, the conditions just didn't allow for optimum temps to take full advantage of it unfortunately

You want to talk no traction, try racing on an old pave Airstrip called Eagle Field. They tried rootbeer syrup one year but between the dust sticking to it and the ants it gets very slippery. And as there moto says " Lift if you Drift"

Unfortunately that's a dilemma for me. I'm a one man show, and by the time the cars that just launched are at half track, the next pair are already doing their burnouts, so I can't get the entire race, burnouts and everything. On one hand, I would like to, but if I showed the entirety of each race, the videos would be extremely long. I typically show burnouts and launches. If it's a particularly good race, I'll show it all the way to the traps. That's why I call it highlights. But I will work on getting more complete coverage!

Ahh yes. All girl drivers since shifting a 4 speed is soooooooo unbelievably difficult. Ohio George Montgomery, Stone Woods and Cooke, Bones Balogh, Jim Oddy, Junior Thompson, Big John Mazmanian, etc etc, were they all girls with fake gassers as well?
