Everyone's talking about the Glitchtale references, meanwhile I notice that Gaster's battle sprite and some of his attacks are originally from the Deprived Gaster fight, made by the same person who made the Ultra Sans fight animation.

Am I the only one who’d love to see Merg play a Kirby game? I mean, I love Kirby, and I love Merg’s channel. It’ll be perfect! Also this fight is a reference to Gaster attacking Frisk in the animation series “Glitchtale” I believe. I think the Hate and Fear souls, as well as Gaster’s red eyes, black bone attacks and him blocking attacks with the Gaster Blaster confirms the reference. Even the fact that fear is “powerless against determination” is reminiscent of Betty’s origins from Glitchtale. (Ok just watched more of the video and Gaster says that every soul is powerless against determination)

Also it was written in the credits that the souls "hate", "fear" and "nothingness" are a reference to glitchtale also Merg knows about glitchtale, "I am Betty now!"
