spoken well. two issues 1. Internal sphincter and external sphinters are 2 concentric rings of muscles rather than inside outside muscle shown 2. Straining causes haemorrhoids cushions to enlarge, and become haemorrhoids. What was meantioned was that straining caused varices,. rectal varices are caused by Portal hypertension and not straining.

Dr, can you please share your insight on mechanism of defecation reflex in infants? They don't seem to have ability of voluntary stool passing? How is it different in infants than adults? Thanks in advance.

Thank sir, it is really helpful. Could you help me to answer this question? The question is where is stool gonna be if we do not relax external sphincter? Is it still in the rectum or it's gonna back to the sigmoid colon? Thank you.
@Campbellteaching
@Campbellteaching 6 жыл бұрын
It will stay in the rectum and start to dry out leading to constipation.
@luanpham-ez5nz
@luanpham-ez5nz 6 жыл бұрын
Thank sir a lot. What you'd mentioned before is normally the rectum is empty. If I just kept the stool inside in the rectum 1 hour ago then I would feel the stool if I put the finger in the rectum?
@luanpham-ez5nz
@luanpham-ez5nz 6 жыл бұрын
Actually my teacher told me that normally the rectum was empty, so if there was stool in the rectum that means you were constipated, stuff like that. He also said that when you have a call of nature but your external sphincter wasn't relaxed, then the fecal material was gonna back in the sigmoid.
@Campbellteaching
@Campbellteaching 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, usually it will be soft to begin with, if there is constipation, the faeces will dry out and Harden over time, often in constipation you can feel several small balls of hardened faeces if you do a PR.

Well explained , I know that because I understood what you said , lol ... the little brown turds made me laugh , did you wash your hands after playing w/them ?? ... I was waiting for you to tell why there "are" times when you CANNOT voluntarily control the contraction of your striated external sphincter and have a blowout in your pants or where ever else is convenient at that very involuntary second , lol (i.e. , behind a bush , tree , etc.) !!! ...

Please reply to me urgently. When you expel stool, does the anus form a ring and become prominent when stool are exiting? Is that the normal physiology or I have anal prolapse!? Your reply will save me travelling to the doctor and embarrassing myself
