Hi, I'm Crystal. I was diagnosed with idiopathic gastroparesis in 2004 at the age of 23. My experience with gastroparesis has run the gamut, from being malnourished, anxious, and all but hopeless to being a healthy, happy wife, mom, and dual-certified coach, truly living WELL!
I really believe that this kind of freedom from the suffering around gastroparesis is possible for -- and available to -- everyone... regardless of the severity of symptoms or how long you've had the condition. I hope you'll come along as we explore what the inside-out approach to living WELL with gastroparesis is and where freedom really comes from.

I suffered terribly for over a year before they told me I had gastroparesis. They kept telling me it was all anxiety related since all the tests I had done didn't show anything. Finally I got the right doctor and when she told me the diagnosis was gastroparesis. I began to try and follow the diet. Now it is bearable but still painful and over whelming. I am 63 and I have never heard of this before. It's hard. I bought your book Living with Gastroparesis and have learned more about it. Dr. just told me she thought I would be a good candidate for the neurotransmitter. I am still having difficulty with the diet. I lost energy and almost 30 pounds. Your videos are encouraging. Thanks but I am hoping I can get back to having more energy and less pain soon because there was a point where I just wanted to give up.

Glad you're finding the info helpful! I've done a few personal updates though I'm not sure if I've talked specifically about what I eat. I generally follow a gastroparesis-friendly diet like what's outlined in my book, Eating for Gastroparesis. I probably eat a little higher fiber than my recommendations, though I don't track it. I mostly just follow the guidelines in my updated Gastroparesis Diet Guidelines video, particularly doing what feels right to me, knowing that symptoms are feedback and incorporating that information into future choices. I follow a dairy-free diet because my daughter has anaphylactic allergies and a mostly gluten-free diet because that's what seems to work best for me. I also follow a reflux digest, as I have LPR and those are my most bothersome symptoms at this point. I think it really comes down to figuring out what works best for you over time. Hope that helps!

Sauerkraut was listed as a food to avoid; however I read that fermented foods such as sauerkraut are good for GP...just asking for an answer, GP and digestion are such conflicting topics to research

Hello! Can you discuss the emptying scan test. There seems to be allot of studies out there that conflict against the doctors timeline on diagnosis. For instance if you empty 98% of food from your stomach at the 4 hour mark , means you only have 2% left in your stomach , many studies say this is normal range, they say if you have 10% left in your stomach after 4hours than your positive. What is your take on this ??? It appears many ppl are wrongly getting diagnosed. Can we discuss??? Love to talk to u

Hello I just had a quick question. I have read conflicting information about fiber supplements. Some people say that fiber powder will do you harm for people with gastroparesis and possibly make it worse. Is this true? Also I recently found a product by a company called it works and the product is called greens. It is supposed to promote digestion because it has enzymes and probiotics in it and also claims to have eight servings of fruits and vegetables in every serving. Have any of you with gastroparesis tried this? How did it work for you

I know it sounds crazy but since I have been diagnosed the only things I can eat is tuna fish with crackers, boiled or baked shrimp and blue berries. Anything else sends me into horrible stabbing stomach pain that leads to vomiting and being curled up in the fetal position for 6-8 hours. Eating is just not worth it anymore

Hi help me understand or explain this? 🤔 If the food goes in stomach and sits there for a while It obviously moves into the intestines and bowel at some point to be able to poop So everything is broken down and fats etc So why do we lose the weight? We should still be keeping the weight on Why are the fats not being absorbed? Is there something else specifically stopping us absorbing the calories? In my case I've never vomitted so it's not that the food is being thrown up out of the stomach So why lose so much weight? What's specifically causing the weight loss? I'm curious to know anyone's thoughts 😏

The gastro surgeon said this is typically because you eat higher carbohydrates less quality fat meals and less or no fiber cause weight storage. Some people are overweight even morbid obese because of the disease.

That sucks with eating less fiber because I eat fiber so I can go to the bathroom. Without a lot of fiber how can I poop. I hate this I cannot even eat rasin bran cereal without vomiting it all up.

I know I'm late and hopefully you've found a sulution, but my tip is to find a laxative tea. Some herbs are laxating, I have found one and I am dependent on it. Hopefully you'll find one that doesn't taste awful, haha...

I have Diabetic Gastrioperesis. I hardly eat anything. There’s only a handful of things o can eat. However, you’d think I’d lose weight, but no. I struggle to. I am treated at IU Med in Indianapolis. I have to travel three hours away to be treated. People don’t understand and think your crazy because you tell them you cannot eat salads, and fruits and whole grains and what most health nuts eat. Everyone is different and it also depends at what stage you are in with this. Controlling blood sugar is the hardest. Sugar is an enemy. I will be seeing a feeding tube at some point. My main goal is to stay away from the colostomy bag.
