Cool additions to the lore. I imagine these types of scenarios were removed to simplify the story. It also makes the fights more one-sided and quicker. It would have been cooler to slow the story down to add more depth in the lore; however that's what corporate does to streamline products.

If you think that I'll tell you this, later in the novel/manga Prince Idiot the Zorzal and his equally egotistical General Herm Fule Maio the Man-child, ordered a massive scorched earth campaign on every town, villages and settlements, to slow down the JSDF advancements... Let's just say majority of those Pro-War soldiers was more than happy to slaughter countless innocents, rape women, burn every settlement they see and poison every available sources of food and water...

@@trollmaster4523 The scorch earth tactics is not idiotic at all and has worked many times in history, most famously by Russian against Napoleon and Nazi Germany, they just underestimated JSDF's logistic capability. Until very recently in human history, a large portion of army maintenance is spent on keeping the army fed, if supply line is not established or if roads are nonexistent, like in marshes or middle of desert, food would be acquired from locals either by coins or by force. If the empire has Russian winter on their side, the JSDF would end up like Napoleon in his Russian Campaign, all starved and decimated. But to burn every settlements? This is just overdoing it, probably out of fear of the unstoppable green army.

Those Pro-War fools destroyed sources of food and water, said resources was not needed for the JSDF advancements... 2. Said tactics caused a food shortage not only for the victims but for Zorzal's forces as well, before the battle in Marais, the food in the middle of the Pro-War senators are all over ripe, the only reason no one mentioned that is everyone is distracted by Zorzal's lies about the war that they are winning whom those idiots believe... 3. It was easy for the villagers and other people to know it was Zorzal's forces who did those vile deeds because Pro-war senators like Herm Fule Maio the Man-child General is dressed in Empire's attire while commanding the atrocities in person... 4. Look I get it, such tactics are made to deny resources, hinder advancements and weaken the enemy but Zorzal's brutal tactics only caused the citizens to utterly despise him but the Empire in whole.

From just your description of General Herm Fule Maio alone, I thought he was at least cunning enough to hire bandits or barbarians to commit the atrocities and deny any claims of him being in charge. But after reading what you just write, I have a feeling that the author intentionally write the empire to be governed by a bunch of idiots that can somehow conquer the continent and not destroying themselves in civil wars in the process.

The only time I’ve seen a TV gate pulled outwards is HBO Vikings during the siege of Paris. The handful of real castles I’ve visited open inwards. Most gates open inwards to prevent enemy tampering with the hinges. An exposed edge can be pryed apart. You hook the edge and rip it off. You can also wedge the door to keep it closed if it opens inward. Blast doors on the other hand open outwards. In the event of an explosion the door is pushed against the entire frame rather than just hinges and bolts. They are made of steel and concrete not wood and iron. The downside is they can be blocked by debris, thereby trapping those inside whereas an inwards door would allow the occupants to dig their way out.

The author basically handicapped the empire in terms of worldbuilding but something like Gate: war of two worlds(fanfic) would be fun to watch.

Conqueroring is fun and all, but then you've gotta figure out what to do with all the shit you've conquered and all the problems of your new people. Are you going genocide and repopulate? Hearts and minds to create a utopia? Warlord/demonlord slave empire of opulence? Plus if you conquer evryone, then there is no one left to fight and it gets boring. Also, it is important to maintain an external threat of some sort in order to have something to unify the people against, direct discontent towards, and as an excuse to restrain the nobility who may be disloyal. I've put way more thought into this than i should, but i also read a ton and enjoy the logistical side. "How a realist hero rebuilt the kingdom" is a great book series, and "A Connecticut yankee in king Arthur's court" is a classic.

At the first chapters of the novel/ manga it was said that the Empire and it's soldiers have a belief that they are absolutely invincible and the strongest in all dimensions thus everything they do is justified. The belief is because the Empire is 600 years undefeated in its own country. This belief was shattered when they faced the JSDF, too bad for them Zorzal and a lot of similarly minded fools like him remains adamant that the Empire is Invincible. Blaming that the soldiers aren't brave enough and the Emperor, Pina and the Pro-Peace senators are cowards. When Prince Idiot the Zorzal took the throne, he have a fanatical and absolutely moronic group called the Oprichina to motivate their troops by all sorts of crazy stuffs to inspire them. Crazy drills like Killing any soldiers (leading to thousands of their own soldiers to be killed before battle), so they will always charge in human wave meele attacks, shooting arrows at the backs of their own men to inspire them to run faster towards the JSDF and even napalm flames, and preventing any sorts of retreat whatsoever with threatening said soldiers with torture.

My understanding is that the common misunderstanding was that it was just some sort of strange magical beast. These guards would be expected to charge giant worms, boars, dragons, and other assorted monsters so why would this be different aside from simply not recognizing it.

These are professional soldiers raised in a world with monsters and dragons as a fact of life, so expect that they were prepared for some fantastical shit. They just weren't expecting something mundane like a device that uses chemical reactions to launch slivers of metal at ridiculous speeds.
