actually musket being able to penetrate armor was only one reason. In fact you could do body protection which offered reasonable protection against muskets, thou not on all ranges. The other major factor that "killed" armor was the fact that it was too expensive to keep equipping the armies, who increase in size considerably since medieval times in Europe.

I’m quite getting annoyed by Prince Zorzal ignorance calling these brave Swedish soldiers not warriors or honorable. Maybe Last Stand, Shiroyama or Winged Hussars will show Prince Zorzal that there are warriors and honorable men than him had existed in our world and maybe break his ego for good.

Before the casts ask "why do they stand there waiting to get shot" and/or "Why do they fight in such condensed formations, doesnt that make them easier to get shot?" Its a sort of weakness of the musket, which is the musket's reload time, it's not hard to reload but it still takes around 20 seconds on average to reload, even some professional armies (like the british) still takes 12 seconds to reload on average since theres quite a lot of steps to reload one. Then as for their formation, its actually the most effective formation at that time *if they want to hit something*. Due to the smoothbore barrel of the gun, the accuracy is relatively unreliable, you have to get either extremely close or have lots of people firing at the same time to create a wall of lead, which will guarantee at least one or two kills at range. Im sure you can see which one they picked. [In case you would like to include this for the reload explanation (if they were to ask)]: -lock the igniting flint back -open the pan of the firing mechanism -grab a cartridge from pouch -open the cartidge (fastest is by biting) -put SOME gunpowder on the pan and close the pan -put cartidge on the end of the barrel -retrieve the ram rod, which is stowed away right below the barrel -use the ram rod to shove the cartridge all the way to the inside of the barrel, making sure the cartridge is squished and the gunpowder of the cartidge is packed tightly. -stow away the ram rod under the barrel of the musket (unless you dont want to reload anymore you can throw it away.) -ready to fire (unless you got shot or stabbed before you could even complete the reload sequence)

Big fan of this series since I found out about it! I don’t usually stick around for Gacha Life reaction videos, but I do appreciate the ones that have actual effort put into them, like this one! I would like to suggest “Last Dying Breath”, “Lady of the Dark” and “The Red Baron”, another three songs about WW1. (Lady of the Dark is a song about a Serbian heroine during WW1, she protected her brother from mobilisation by cutting her hair and dressing in men’s clothes. Her true gender was revealed when a nurse went to attend her wounds and saw that she was a female, as women weren’t allowed to join the Serbian army. A really brave one, too, I recommend reading about it if you’re interested!)

However, you forgot to say that the Caroleans' courage was fueled by the fact that they thought that their moment to die was preset by God himself and nothing could change that. So, even if they run away, they will die anyway. Still, they had Ball of Steels as standard issue. Well, the reason people didn't wear armor in those times is that countries couldn't produce armor for tens of thousands, because iron and steel are expensive materials and at that time industry was barely nascent. However, cavalry and officers did wore breastplates called cuirasses up until WW1.

Grey Co Aldo is mistaken a thick infantry block is what is needed to stop a Cavalry. In the medieval ages long spear or other pole were used to counter cavalry. when muskets appeared, musket troops were mix in with spear infantry. When the bayonet appears, it was first used for hunting, turn the musket into spear. Because if wild boar changes you after you fire your musket, bayonet would most helpful. so the bayonet let the musket attack is a spear, this led to creation musket only blocks. these musketeers only block had more fire power and could defend against cavalry.

Great sabaton reactions! I even began watching the Gate anime cause of this channel! I know it falls out of Sabaton songs, but in the future i would recommend a video on the song "I will rule the Universe" by Civil War. The band was formed by former sabaton members and its also themed around historical figures and battles music. This specific song is about Napoleon Bonaparte.

The Swedish military at the time was in the process of switching over their muskets from a matchlock (where you had to light a wick on fire on the gun to ignite the powder) to the much more reliable Snaphance lock musket (predecessor to the flintlock). To prepare such a musket to fire, you would have a pre-prepared paper cartridge filled with black powder and a ball. You would bite the cartridge, holding the musket ball in your teeth (hence the term "bite the bullet"), and pour most of the powder down the barrel. You then "spit" the ball down the barrel, take the ramrod and ram the bullet down against the powder. You'd then "half-cock" the lock to expose the priming pan. You take the remaining bit of your powder, and fill the pan. You then cock the lock all the way back, and you're ready to fire. By the time of the Napoleonic Wars, the standard rate of fire for British infantry was three shots per minute in any weather, four shots a minute for veteran infantry. Muskets of the time were lethal up to 175 meters, but only "accurate" to 100 meters. Common tactics of the time dictated mass volleys at a range of 25-50 meters.

From what I know about muskets, is that they're the most balanced weapon. They'll blow your enemy to pieces with one or two shots, but you have to reload after every shot, it's a tad bit inaccurate and it takes a while to reload. _chefs kiss_ perfect.
