Well maintaining the bike chain is somewhat a very personal thing. I surely don't like the cleaning of greasy chain and my wife just hates my hands aferwards :) On the other hand you made a great point about the internal geared hubs. To add to that my impression that the ride feel is quite unnatural with those. But it's sure good to have options :)
