When you choose to follow Jesus, there’s no promise it will ever be easy. It can be hard. Painful. Excruciating. It’s an upside down Kingdom. And oftentimes, you know you’re getting it right when everybody thinks you must be doing it wrong. So how do we actually live like Jesus? What is the goal of every child of God? And what practical steps can we take to accomplish it?

It's no coincidence I've been mulling over the idea of how it is that God's yolk is easy and his burden is light and we're called to crucify our flesh daily. I know God's word does not lie but this seemed to be a major contradiction to me. When Jesus was preparing to endure crucification he was so stressed he began to sweat blood. Nothing about that sounds light or easy. So, needless to say I was quite confused but then I read more of Matthew 11 and gained a bit more clarity but you just made the picture crystal clear. I really enjoy the gems I get from this podcast, even on the video diary episodes lol. I appreciate your obedience and wisdom.❤

When you start crying is when I start feeling the joy of the Lord, and every time I hear you start crying while speaking, I know I need to stop whatever I’m doing and pay closer attention to the words you were speaking I love you brother!!!

A heavy one but so needed, thank you. This is the narrow road and while it's hard at times, other times so much easier as He walks with us. This is a road I'm honoured to take. Matthew 7:13-14

No need for the “sorry if you don’t get down like that”. I respect the emotion you bring to the mic. If Jesus don’t bring out the water sometimes (or a lot for us emotional types) I might question some things. Not judging if you don’t cry but…that’s what He does! Since you brought up the blue magic and dead men don’t have resumes on that Basement pod I’ve been a fan. Those words changed my life! Love the new set and from this old (52) man to another 😉 keep on sharing your words with us.

Thank you for being so vulnerable! This was so beautiful. I have recently got out of a long season of feeling this way and I love the honesty that you are giving everyone about this beautiful yet difficult walk in faith! I’ve been blessed by a lot of episodes of your podcast and I’m so grateful for the work God is using you for! Don’t forget to pray for your pastors everyone, they are human to! Sending prayers and love to you and your family!

This blessed my soul. I am thankful to listen to a podcast about "meatier" things. I feel that the Holy Spirit used some things you said to confirm some things He has said to me recently. Some thoughts: 1. Being more like Jesus is HARD. I like how you suggested we read through the gospels a couple of times a year. How can we be more like Him if are not hearing/reading His words? In the past month I have been surprised at the way the Holy Spirit has given me understanding as I read the bible. Or He has highlighted words, phrases or passages in new ways. 2. Loving people is hard. Giving people allowance not excusing behavior.👍 One of my struggles is guving myself allowance. I think a big part of that is being more self-aware. Owning up to the times we didn't do it well. On Sunday you talked about repentance, and this week I have been learning that repenting regularly for things also helps when fighting spiritual warfare. There's less for the enemy to come at me with.💪 3. Confirmation. This past month I have been fasting with others at my church. I have been learning that as I go deeper with Jesus it does not get easier. Sigh...😊 But being in community is important as the Holy Spirit can use others to remind me of His truth or refute the lies I am dealing with. God uses ALL things for good. Even the things that the enemy brings up to make me feel less than... God CAN use as an opportunity to give me freedom. #kingdomways Because if the enemy had not exposed that soul wound, I wouldn't know about it. 4. With the hardship comes blessing. He loves us in ways that don't make sense. And ... He wants to use us to share that love with others. He can use the hard lessons we have learned to encourage others. That's one waycwe can love others. He lavishes that love on us.🥰 Thanks for sharing this.👍

This video was right on time. I was just having these feelings and had a minor breakdown with that realization of my own abilities and reading something that encapsulated my focus needs to be refocused on him. This journey isn’t for the faint.. but the blessing is we aren’t alone ❤. Thank you for your obedience and sharing this.

Hey Preston, would you mind sharing the instrumental you play at the end of the podcast? I've been listening to the William Augusto when reading, but would also love to include this one as an alternative. Appreciate you bro.

Hi Mike! We love William Augusto! The specific track used at the end of this episode was "Pacificus" by Inola. We use a music licensing platform for these tracks, but a lot of the ones we use at the end of the episodes are from the artist Inola.

You said that your foster kid jump in the ice pool like his father?! Does that little boy call you foster temporary manager father..
@apiffanyfulcher6628
@apiffanyfulcher6628 5 ай бұрын
Does God call you His foster child? Is God your foster father? We are His children and He is our father! Saying that you are fostering a boy has a negative stigma.(not belonging to). You call God, your Father; just saying.. no disrespect Preston.

I know and I'm sure the majority of people here know for a fact that Preston was not referring to himself as a foster child. He was giving an example of how hard it can be to live like a child of God. He is also literally saying that he and his family are fostering a child that is not biologically theirs. That's how the adoption process goes. I don't know if you have experienced a negative view of the foster care system, but please don't misunderstand what is being said here.

Do you forget the part where he says we live in a fallen world? Foster children are things of this Earth. Preston is his father figure. It’s just a matter of fact.
