Holy... this sounds freaking amazing. To think I almost didn't hear this because it got buried in a "music of the day" post on EQD. This easily deserved a spotlight post.

This is probably going to get tomatoes hurled at me, but I like to deliberately misinterpret that this is what Pinkie Pie sings after returning from the moon (as per Everfreebrony's AU ending to Party of One concept album). (Though vocally EileMonty of course is doing a superb rendition as one of the best fanvoices for Luna, but work with me here...) First, Luna just isn't portrayed as being so philosophical. The advice she's given in show in her eps with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle was more "don't do what I did". It wasn't heavy perceptual lifting to see the applicability of her own experience to theirs. Whereas this song is about a realization much more nuanced and obscure. (It's an irony that Luna may be the Princess of the moon and night, but she's very direct and straightforward.) And even if Luna were so philosophical, I don't think she'd take this tone of being so airy and aloof in talking about something that touched on such horrible memories. I don't think she'd be so calm and clever. Pinkie Pie I can see being dragged down out of her mania by the weight of a horrible experience and ending up at this tone. Luna I have problems envisioning anything that would put her in the frame of mind of the lyrics. But the bottom line is it's an awesome song and this is an awesome version of it which I like better than the original.

I'm glad I paid attention to Music of the Day on EqD to find this. A quality rock cover of this song is something that I didn't even realize I wanted, but I wouldn't give it up now that I've heard it!

just left from the everfree recording of Eile's panel to listen to the full version. SOO AWESOME!! seriously, well done! only point i can critizise is your guitar-solo volume after the chorus-es and the "real" solo, for my taste it's a bit too quiet, but just a bit, in relation to the back-instruments/Eile's voice. Its missing the pressure to keep up with her. what you did excellent(excluding the solo-volume) is keeping up with the pressure she put in the singing! that must have been quite hard!

Opinion: I like this a lot better then the original, the main reason being I like rock, but also because I can actually understand the lyrics.
