Gauntlet and Fang-class Mandalorian Starfighters!

What's up guys! Welcome to another Star Wars Oddball video. Today I am going to be discussing two of the coolest starfighters in Star Wars. I love how the Mandalorians design their fighters and frankly wish we could get more starfighter dogfights with both of these. Let me know which one is your favorite. I actually hadn't paid enough attention when I was watching the rebels show but now that I see it again, the Fang-class is definitely one of my favourite fighter designs in Star Wars.

I love that the Fang and Gauntlet pair with the scyk (now sadly neglected) really nicely giving Mano vessels a cohesive style... But I've always felt the gauntlet is just too unnecessarily massive and flamboyant for the culture it was supposedly built for. The Fang is one of my favourite SW fighters since the original trilogy, and it was nice seeing one briefly in the last of the sequel trilogy. And in that appearance it didn't constantly and pointlessly swing it's wings either. Lol.

I personally love the Gauntlet but the Fang fighter is an excellent starfighter especially in a dogfight. The spinning wings definitely work to confuse enemies and help with atmospheric flight. But yeah, they really be spinning those lol

The gravity adjustment would have been insane, the strength of the Gauntlet is such that it's cost would have been incredible. The Fang Fighter with shields would have been competition for even an E wing.

Exactly, the only downside to the Fang is its lack of shields

I wonder how many of these types of ships an acclamator can carry? Also imagine an acclamator with a cloaking device, would be terrifying for the enemies to not know they were under attack and then boom an entire army at your doorstep.

Considering the size of the Gauntlet and Fang fighters in relation to LAATs I’d say around 50-60 Gauntlets. Or a combination of 30 Gauntlet-class and 50 Fang-class fighters. This is a guess of course but when thinking about how the Acclamator could hold 80 LAATs I think my numbers are more than fair. Pair these Mandalorian fighters with a cloaked Acclamator and whatever planet you want is yours lol

Other than Hera the pilots in her Squadron were basically rookies and not able to use the A-Wing's abilities to maneuver and almost instantly change direction...they also were early versions of the A-Wing which weren't nearly as good as those fielded a handful of years later

I wish we could’ve seen them shooting down some TIE Interceptors in that Mando finale. They were just flying escort for the Gauntlets

The Gauntlet could definitely mop up enemies, just give it a payload of proton torpedoes and some proton bombs

So, which one would you say is better? The Gauntlet or the Fang?

That’s tough to say.. the Gauntlet is more balanced as it can carry multiple personal and deploy them, not to mention it has forward and rear laser cannons. It’s both a fighter and transport. But the Fang fighter is better when it comes to dogfights. My personal choice is the Gauntlet-class starfighter

The Gauntlet that is seen in "The Mandalorian" Season 2 & 3 ist NOT 50m long. You can easily see it when it is landed at the end of Season 2. You see Din Djarin and Boba Fett coming out of the Slave I in Front, both are max 1,8m height. Correct there height in perspetive (which should be 10 to 15% less height) and you see that you can see that the Wing is about 13 times the height of one Person. So roundabout 25 to 30m long (considering that this is roughly estimated).

According to the information given to us, the Gauntlet has two versions one at 68m in length and one at 52m. I'm just going off the sources provided to us lol

@@StarWarsOddball I know. But sometimes the Sources in StarWars are Odd. I mean if you think about it that the "smaller" Gauntlet much bigger than the Milenium Falcon^^

I find the spinning fuselage too goofy for my tastes. I like the rotating wings, but the spinning is just nonsensical to me. Otherwise this is one of my favorite pairs of ships in Star Wars.

When talking about speed, it isn’t the top speed that the fang fighter is known for but it’s agility. The fang fighter is unmatched in maneuverability

It is! But it’s important to remember there’s two different size classes for the Gauntlet
