Life sentences technically have the possibility of whole life till death but they also have a minimum term after which the prisoner is eligible for parole. This is 16 years for Gavin. Because British prisons are overcrowded it's likely that is all he will serve , but if he causes trouble it will be longer. Whole life orders also exist, in those cases there is no parole.

It is a life sentence with a minimum of 16 years before he would be considered for release on licence....the judge made it clear that release would not be automatic after 16 years , the reality is he could spend considerably longer in prison and potentially never be released. The judge also said that if he was to be released on licence he could be recalled back to prison to serve out the rest of the life sentence if he broke any of the conditions of the licence....and the judge actually said that if that happened he could potentially never be released. So that life sentence will be hanging over him literally the rest of his life, if he were ever released he would be treading on eggshells, one wrong step and he would be locked up again.....to serve his life sentence

How the hell did this person get a job as a security guard Baffling ?

Being a security guard is a low paid job for people with no real skills or smarts. It's not like working for MI5 or Scotland yard. They do check your criminal record when getting the SIA licence. But Gavin may have not been convicted of anything before.

@@dfpguitar Being a security guard does require skills and smarts in some cases they do better work For the public than the police They are at the scene of the crime where the police always turn up after the crime is committed You should get your facts right mate before you insult a whole reputable prestige profession of people who protect property and the public

Shouldn't see the light of day again but 16 years is better than nothing I suppose.

This is farcical. This man should have been taken off the streets years ago when he actually physically tried to abduct two women yet was given a suspended sentence FFS! Now he’s finally convicted on the flimsiest of evidence, evidence that certainly would have never gone to trial if it wasn’t for the fact there was media exposure for the CPS and the police because a UK celebrity was involved. A classic case of justice for some - not all.

justice is a farce. sexual offenders should get no second chance. without a miracle there is no chance of rehabilitation for them. saying this as a survivor.

The police gathered the evidence, that's why he was found guilty. Good policing.
