The 'passions' are incredibly tricky; we don't know we have them usually until we see the harm they do. For instance a CEO of a multinational corporation probably does not even notice the incredible damage his business is doing to the environment, to communities, to workers, etc because his passion of greed and narcissism is totally hidden in justifications like: the Bible rewards those who work hard, (the Protestant 'work ethic' theology came out of this attitude, developed formally by Max Weber, today you see it in the 'prosperity gospel' of Evangelical TV preachers, and parodied in Janis Joplin's 'Lordy, give me a Mercedes Benz' song). The top 1% see their ripping off of society justified as their reward for their hard work and self-sacrifice for success. We parted on good terms, luckily). Another passion that is probably the most powerful is the sexual drive. Those caught in prostitution or addictive viewing of pornography are victims of this. Bill Clinton, or recently Jeffery Epstein, Bill Cosby et al are stuck in this passion. I have two Lesbian friends, we never 'preach' that their marriage is wrong, even though we do see it as a 'truncated' way of commitment between the sexes. They are friends. A last comment; no one has 'unique problems' because we all have the same human nature. LGBTQ folks suffer from exactly same flaws/passions. We just don't see them for now, ie., delusion. Too, the number of times that the Bible states something is not a measure of importance. The Ten Commandments state only once to 'not kill' another person, it doesn't need more, since it should be obvious and commonsense. The Bible is not about rules, it is a way of connecting with 'God', an inner discipline similar to Buddhist 'mindfulness' that leads us to see ourselves and others as we really are, and ultimately to prepare us to accept the 'energies' or grace from God to be healed inwardly. I'm speaking here specifically about the Eastern Orthodox Tradition, since the Western Roman Catholic and Protestant traditions have long lost or never had this. 'Identity politics' is a false narrative, cf., Jordan Peterson's lectures on KZfaq about that topic. There really is no LGBTQ or Heterosexual or 1% Rich or Hardened Criminal or Alt Right or Progressive Left ...."Community" but only us, human beings, "Persons" who drift in and out of these groups over time as we change or mature.
