Gayle… thanks for the hidden spine tutorial. Very informative! That poor little red tag with the stenciled leaves… before it gets lost in the to-do box… try using one of your blender brushes with a complimentary Distress color, because the stenciled NUVO glaze will resist the color and the leaves will show up… then use a tissue to remove any of the distress ink from the leaves. Hoping it will save the little sad tag. Hugs! Susan G

I can’t wait to see what you do with this journal. Just love it already. And I was wondering with the tag you stencilled if it might make a difference to that the glaze as a resist, and go over the tag with some inking. The ink would wipe off the glaze and leave an interesting pattern perhaps. Just an idea😊

I have found that when using Wink of Stella and it’s done, turn off the light, then shine your phone flashlight on it, the look s stunning. I wish it would be like that in regular light.🤗💕🦋

Then I glued it into the cover upside down. 😆Saved this for later viewing so I can find it before I do my next hidden spine. 👍 Hope you’re finding time for a bit of rest between travels.

Love these Gayle! I always use packaging for my journal covers. I NEVER buy new stuff for my journals, apart from stamp pads, dies and stamps sometimes, my goal is to re-use. My favourite packaging is BIB wine carton (they are thick and very sturdy and a great size) and for a softer cover I use cereal boxes and icecream boxes ("sun lollies" at the moment haha) xxx

This was so appropriate for me just now. I just finished me first hidden spine and it felt so awkward to do. But after falling into the trap of putting one signature in upside down, things went better. I really liked this video! Blessings -- Cindy

I think I’ve only done one hidden spine. I found it more fiddly I guess because there was less to hold onto. I did the kind that has the flaps that go out onto the cover and the back. I was yelling at you but you didn’t hear me when you were going to sew in your first signature but like to start with the last signature. I was yelling “just spin it around”, “just spin it around” and it’ll be in the last place. I need to do a mid project tidy, my desk is covered. I know back in the day when we had a local stamp store that used to have classes sometimes I would have to stop in the middle of a project and tidy up because I just couldn’t deal with the mess especially when you’re sharing a table with someone and their mess is creeping into your area.

Hi Gayle 🙂 I am putting together (finally) my first journal.... a chunky monkey 😜 I have made the signatures.. three in total. The first and third I want to do the three hole pamphlet stitch and the middle signature I want to do the midori style. In your (much appreciated expert) opinion, do you think the hidden spine method would be as strong as going through the actual spine itself? I am not opposed to putting "something" over the thread and elastic... Thank you in advance for answering my question 🌷🌷

Sorry to comment again x i used glossy accents on a flower i had fussy cut out of a magazine to make a tag . But when my tag was in the journal after it was dry ,i was checking everything befor posting to my friend,the tag had stuck its self to the opposite page and ruined the page. Do u think id put to much glossy accents on ?
