This episode was filmed a week ago before the grave atrocities including the slaughter at Al Ahli hospital. The Western propaganda machine is in full motion. Israel, aided by the west are conditioning western public opinion for the effective expunging of Gaza from the map. This slow, steady war machine is exceptionalising Palestinian violence, real or concocted, to further its aims. This is the Iraq war all over again.
To help us understand this subtle propaganda machine it is a pleasure to have Moazzam Begg on the show. Moazzam Begg is a former Guantanamo Bay detainee and senior director for the UK-based campaign group CAGE.

I'm a Non-Muslim from the West (Switzerland) and I can assure you that an awful lot of folks here have a lot of sympathy for the struggle of the Palestinian people and so do I and my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Gaza

I'm a westerner living in the UK and there are huge numbers of the population here that support the Palestinians and are not part of western media bias...it's hard for us to address the bias in our media/press as we don't own or control them but we are resisting as best we can

Also for your guest, Br Moazzem, I cannot conceive how our brothers that suffered Guantanamo can come back around and be so vital and so articulate and so full of life, masha Allah! It gives me so much hope that we're much stronger than we think we are. That one survive that and turn around and live such a vital important life. You share your stories and your passion for justice. It's just really amazing, may Allah reward and bless you both! Also if your viewers haven't seen the movie The Mauritanian it is something one must watch as well. The story of one Br Moazzem's fellow prisoners in Guantanamo who was eventually released and wrote a book about his experience. He is also a very vibrant, lively and articulate man. And so positive! Only Allah knows how. Barak Allahu fikum. May Allah preserve you all for us as role models.

My advice to you is to host Dr. Talal Abu Ghazal, a Palestinian businessman and millionaire who lived through the Palestinian Nakba and he is, I think, over seventy years old. He is active in Arab channels to explain the Palestinian resistance and the liberation of the Palestinian land from the Israeli occupation. He is close to understanding the nature of the American-Chinese struggle for world leadership and the possibility of a major war between them, etc.

Thanks for this discussion. Moazzam mentioned one point regarding the International law and asked if it is limited to Europe or to include all nations. Actually, he is right. International law was not meant to benefit all nations from its early days. The British international lawyer James Lorimer, for example, identified three concentric zones of humanity: civilized humanity, barbarous humanity and savage humanity. This is emphasized in other works on international law such as Oppenheim’s International Law and Gerhard von Glahn’s Law Among Nations: An Introduction to Public International Law . This is reflected in the statue of the International court of justice: Article 38 says: 1. The Court, whose function is to decide in accordance with international law such disputes as are submitted to it, shall apply: a. international conventions, whether general or particular, establishing rules expressly recognized by the contesting states; b. international custom, as evidence of a general practice accepted as law; c. the general principles of law recognized by civilized nations. BBC Storyville has a doc, Blue Box, about the Nakba of 1948 with questions not being answered but asked by descendents of the policy makers of that time but faced with a wall of silence. The shame was put on them with no explanation as to why they wouldn't answer. Guilt in the illegality that remains.

Thank you for educating us. This is very important. Since this started I have been studying this. I have been a supporter of Palestine for the last 40 years. Today is October 23 2023. As we speak Palestinians are being bombed mercilessly by Israel. Israel has destroyed universities, hospitals and apartment buildings. So far I have called the white house and gave my opinion in support of Palestine. I also called my senators and did the same. I'm feeling frustrated and helpless because I know that Israel is committing ethnic cleansing and genocide, but what can we do to stop it?

This narrative examination that this channel put on the western legacy mainstream media regarding the Palestinian issue is much needed to support the Palestinian cause, whether the support for the cause is based on the Islamic perspective, Christian perspective, Jewish perspective or Anti-colonial/anti-apartheid perspective. As Muslim, we support the Palestinian cause based on the Islamic perspective, which also inevitably coincide with Anti-colonial/anti-apartheid perspective regardless of religion. Now, I implore the host of the channel to invite Mr. Hussein Askary to re-examine the "China anti-Muslim" narrative that the western legacy mainstream media keep on selling, which us Muslims - understandably - readily accept as is with very little re-examination or re-evaluation. I strongly believe a deeply nuanced and honest discussion with Mr Hussein Askary will benefit the Ummah greatly. Wallahualam.

Great discussion but we are waiting to watch an interview about Uyghur in this channel. Actually Uyghur situation is worse than Palestine. Because our brothers in Palestine are forced to live their land and if they are killed they become Martyrs BUT in Uyghur they're forced to leave their religion. Uyghur are subject to loose here and Hereafter.. Yes we should support Palestine now but we should not ignore Uyghur. No Muslim country wants to see this one because of relations with China. Listed this whole conversation. As interesting as it gets, the last example by the guest regarding the Taliban was not a good one. The whole world and the majority of the Muslim world doesn’t know the real face of the Taliban, how and when they were created and by who? Who’s funding them and how they came to power. Without the foreign support (from non-Muslim governments), the Taliban are nothing. It is so sad to see our brothers in Palestine waving the flag of Taliban in 2021 while these bunch of terrorists were slaughtering my people (Muslims but not from the same ethnicity and language), because of their race, ethnicity and the language they speak. The people of Palestine including Hamas have no idea who the Taliban are, they believe what they on media. Taliban are committing crimes in Afghanistan no less than what Israel is doing in Palestine. 50% of the population is under curfew. No rights to work, to study and even to go out. People from other ethnicities, race, languages and religious minorities are slaughtered. Media is 100% censored and the West (through Pakistani government) is supporting them in hope to use them against China, Russia and Iran one day. A slow but powerful genocide of Hazaras is happening in Afghanistan since 130 years and no one cares about it. May Allah SWT put an end to the sufferings of the people in Afghanistan and in Palestine. Ameen!

Yes, but you need to recognise the wrong doing in Hammas, to understand the anger, sorrow and fear of the Israeli people after an attack to civilians, then you can say: how can all live together, how can be fussed our beliefs, ideas, lives into a more successful way of life for everyone. But if no-one takes the first step towards recognising the pain cause and to surrender to something new, then is just tic for tac, then there will never be moving forward. The stronger will suppress the weaker. Say something new, blaming the other does not work if you really want peace. It starts by being critical of yourself.
