Well, this new church is such a big structure that it is set up to be a Golden's Bridge & Somers dual response. But, it was the first time they have had a call here so, the dispatchers messed up and only dispatched Golden's Bridge, because it is their first due district. So, when one of the chiefs signed on, he requested the engine & tanker from Somers. So, if they had done it correctly, it would have just come in as a Golden's Bridge/Somers dual response, meaning Somers could send what ever trucks they wanted and because Somers is a big department, they probably would have actually ended up sending MORE trucks than they did here. There are a lot of places that do dual response around here, which are always the best because you catch way more trucks than normal.

This structure that they were responding to is huge and so calls there are setup to be a Golden's Bridge/Somers dual response. But, because this was the first time they have gotten a call there (its a new building), the dispatching agency (60-Control) made a mistake and only dispatched Golden's Bridge, as it is their first due district. So, when the assistant chief signed on, he requested an engine and tanker from Somers. But, if they had done it correctly, it wouldn't have been just those specific units requested from Somers, it would've just been a Golden's Bridge/Somers dual response, and because Somers FD is huge, they most likely would've sent more than two trucks.

I suspect thar because rhe water sloshes somewhat, som water made it to the overflow tubes and ran out. Engines have the same difficulty.

Oh yeah, not very many hydrants around here in northern Westchester County, NY. I mean, as you go further south in the county, it gets much more urban and then you don't see any tankers. Southern Westchester borders the Bronx and the Bronx border is lined with three big and dense cities so you get some good variety around here in terms of what kind of apparatus the fire departments have.

Compared to Tanker 1, yes, but around here, there are a lot of tankers about that size. Even Tanker 1 is getting replaced very soon, it looks like March, with a bigger tanker.

Usually, for Golden's Bridge, a commercial alarm is an engine and a tanker and sometimes a rescue if they have enough people. This new church is huge and it is set up to be a dual response with Somers. But, because it was the first time they have responded here, 60-Control screwed up and didn't dispatch Somers to the call. So, the Golden's Bridge chief just requested the Somers engine and tanker on the assignment. Normally, it would be a Golden's Bridge/Somers dual response, so Somers would probably end up actually sending MORE trucks. There is one other structure like that up the road a little way where they have a dual response too.

Yes it is. Luckily, the main part of the building is structurally okay. Actually, some of the trucks are back inside it right now. The left wing will need to be torn down and rebuilt, but overall, I think the apparatus was a bigger loss.

Thanks! Somers has always been dispatched by themselves out of their headquarters station. Just recently, they have started to make the switch from dispatching themselves to being dispatched by 60-Control, which is the Westchester County, NY county-wide dispatch. The county has two channels that would apply to the units here, the dispatch channel and the trunk radio system which is for operations. Right now, they are using all three channels as they are in the process of switching, so they do have a lot of radio bands in their district. Because Westchester County is so big and dense with a lot of cities, there are a ton of different channels used here. My scanner has 34 channels for Westchester County alone plus more channels for other counties and fds. Living around here is confusing. Everywhere you go, you have to switch channels and even in one place, once they get dispatched you sometimes have to switch channels to hear what is going on at the scene and what trucks are responding.

I am glad to hear that. I was worried that they might have closed up shop. Have they completed repairs to the station?

The station is coming along very nicely. They are still doing work but we hope to at least move the trucks and gear into the apparatus bays this summer and for all interior work to be completely done by the fall. We are also expecting delivery of our brand new Spartan ERV rescue-pumper next month, which is replacing both the rescue that we lost in the fire and our oldest engine.

I don't think 2143 was lost. Rescue 24, Car 2142, and the old Jeep were the only things lost I believe.

Yeah, it appears as though they did. That rig was suppose to be replaced a few months back but they ran into some issues. The new car is suppose to be here soon, but luckily it got delayed, otherwise they would've lost the brand new car.

ArmonkFD1111 It wasn't 2143, the headlights are different on 2143. More square, these were more rounded. I used to be on bravo but haven't participated in that site in about a year now, it's a joke.

As for Tanker 1, they didn't really need them, they used them to clear the intersection back up the road a little ways before I started recording. And Somers was told to come in with caution, so that's why they weren't using them.
