Loved your reaction. Dan doesn't just sing. He lives the song. I would swear he was on stage instead of singing from his garage in Brazil. Favorite? There is only a few of his songs I don't like. Amongst my many favorites: A Tale That Wasn't Right, Blind and Frozen, I want Out, Poker Face, Kickstart My Heart, The Last Goodbye, Loch Lohman, etc, etc.

Most of the time my Dan Vasc favourite song is the one I am listening in that moment....

What a beautiful reaction, it was so visibly obvious this is a song that carries great meaning for you, and i could see the exact moment, when he touched your soul, and your eyes got a little moist. Dan definitely can do that to you. This one is also one of my absolute favorites - he performs it so perfectly and brings out all the colors of the palette to convey all the intricite qualities of the Phantom. And that note - yes....and that last note, the slow rhythmic vibrato he places right at the perfect time in the perfect rhythm, that's just plain and simple mastery. I'm right there with you on everything you say. Keep listening to Dan and you'll get better. I can recommend 'Kickstart my heart', 'Heaven is a place on Earth', and 'Dawn over a new world' - or you might also like his version of 'Nessun Dorma'.

Dan is phenomenal! I don’t know any other musical artist that is so versatile and can sing any genre. The great thing about him is that he is very humble. He has said many times that he is just a normal guy from a third world country that makes music videos in his garage!

Once again, I am in complete agreement with your reaction. I think that the number of views are only based on the fact that a lot of people just don't understand that they would like the song if they watched, which they probably won't, because they've "never liked opera music." One of the things I love the MOST about this one, is the absolute purity of that final note. That is NOT an easy thing to do, due to the slight dissonance that passes through from the orchestra just before the "fade to black." Dan's voice holding that single note, even in the face of that BEAUTIFUL dissonance, is DELICIOUS! I told my (youngest) daughter (my husband and I live with her, her husband, and their eight children) a couple of months back, when we were listening together to Dan singing this song (it's been one of our favorites for a LONG time before we even knew about Dan), that I don't care about the circumstances. If he was singing that to me, in the setting of the opera, I'd be following him right into that darkness...no question about it! In real life, there's no way I'd be following ANY voice into the darkness, because I already know THE ONE voice to follow, and THAT voice takes one only into perfect LIGHT. However, as I said, in the setting of the opera, that voice would definitely pull me in. If you'd like to hear Dan singing with the opposite "pull," the song that I really love hearing him sing, is a very simple one, originally written and sung by Roy Khan. It's called, "For All," and you would definitely need to play through the outro, and listen carefully to what Dan has to say about his love for Roy, and his (Dan's) own beliefs. Thank you for this great reaction. I'm now headed for "Poker Face" -- a song of a different color, indeed. 😀 - - - - - - - - - - PS... I don't see any reason why you need to compare any of the songs that Dan covers, to the originals, unless you really WANT to. Why not just react to the songs themselves, WITHOUT any former knowledge of how they sounded when sung by others? One of the things that I get irked about, is when people OBJECT to "covers." The ones who speak the loudest and the most derisively about them, don't understand that if they've EVER sung a Christmas carol; if they've EVER sung a lullaby; if they've EVER sung "Happy Birthday"; if they've EVER sung a nursery rhyme; if they've EVER sung a silly song (like "Hole in the Bucket," "Hole in the Bottom of the Sea," etc., etc., etc., THEY are singing "covers" of songs that have been around a long time (some of them for centuries). Those same people would be quite hard put, to write a truly ORIGINAL song (lyrics AND melody), and then to make a full ALBUM of those songs. Yet they complain and complain and complain that Dan (and others) are only posting "covers," instead of originals. I love hearing NEW songs (and writing them), but I also love hearing my favorites OLD songs being sung in different ways, by different singers--none of whom sing exactly the same way. There is nothing wrong with that. There is also nothing wrong with just reacting to Dan's music--be it covers or originals, whether you've heard the songs before, or not. Just enjoy the moment, and react to THAT. Seriously! 😀
