It's not that we hadn't heard Eli's rock tenor before, but it was so pronounced in this one. The song is from the third movie. Everyone who is suspected of being a pirate, being friends or famiy of a pirate is being led to the gallows to be hung. A young boy is in that line. The noose doesn't come down far enough, so he is placed on top of a barrel to be hung. As they wait for the lever to be pulled, he starts singing this sone, and all of the others join in.

I often find that the most recent one they’ve released is my favorite for a while but this one I return to over and over again simply because it’s majestic. It’s like opera. It’s got a storyline, incredible music and amazing costumes. It’s the first of their more theatrical pieces. It’s something they really do well because they’ve all either worked at Universal Studios in Florida or Disney World or both. This is going to be a good week!

Jose is a loveable rogue! He's also in their "My Mother Told Me," and "What Do We Do With a Drunken Sailor?" This was actually in the third POTC movie, during a scene where a lot of people are being hanged for being or associating with pirates. Something I've never heard anyone mention that I noticed, when Cesar sings "Now some men have died, and some are alive, and others sail the sea" it's a direct mention of the men on the Black Pearl in the first movie, who were actually UNDEAD, so were neither alive or dead. And possibly also a nod to Barbarossa and Jack, who die and are brought back.

Thanks for the reaction thus is one of their iconic songs. It even caused one reactor to jump up and run off forgetting he had no pants on 😆😅🤣😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣 Another fun fact José wasn't the original featured singer, it was supposed to be Anthony Gargiula, but thank to locked down he couldn't make it to Florida so José stepped in. But because José has a different vocal range then Anthony, Eli took the lead while José took Eli's part. These guys are so talented that even when they aren't able to get the singer they originally wanted they can still make it seem like it was intended for who they can get. Definitely check out Nothing Else Matters Hellfire Valhalla Calling Queen in 5 Minutes (still in my top three favorite VP songs) Enjoy 😉 😊😂

This was at the beginning of Pirates 3. It is sung by the condemned at the gallows. It is "The song has been sung, the call has been made" to gather the Pirate Council.

I can see how much you really enjoyed this. They did Drunken Sailor which is kind of a comical follow up to this. If you haven't seen their version of My Mother Told Me and Valhalla Calling please do a reaction to them. They are just top tier!

Thank you for reacting to "Hoist the Colors" as this was the very first Voice Play song I ever heard.🤩😅🤭🔥 I personally love "Valhallah Calling" the best but Hoist the Colors has nostalgia for me. I have never seen any Pirate movies. Actually, I rarely watch movies of any kind. Anyway, glad to see you being open to something new❤️👍 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

Yea! You did react to this one after all. Thanks so much. This was my intro to Voice Play and then to Geoff Castellucci's channel afterwards (which is also awesome btw). Still love this one for vocals, costuming, lighting/props, & theater. I always loved POTC & the soundtrack to each one. I never saw the 5th movie except for trailers & clips, though. If I see it, that will be the final one. For me, there won't be a reason to see any future POTC sequels now that Disney did a number on Johnny Depp. No Capt. Jack Sparrow...no POTC.

Yes it's from PIrates of the Caribbean: At World's End. I think it's the third movie.Yes it's Eli (rhymes with jelly). The song in the film is very simple. Not so here. This has long been a favourite for many but of course they keep doing more, and more, and more. I suggest you catch the mini video from top fan Huldra Draco called Geoff is an alien. :)
