Step 1: make it mandatory in new vehicles. Step 2: make it mandatory for all vehicles. Step 3: make it mandatory for device to remotely disable vehicle. Step 4: make it illegal to turn device off. Step 5: make it illegal to tamper/alter device. Step 6: make fines from your CBDC account automatic (in case you break rules 1-5). All supposedly in the name of safety.. Remember: Big daddy government always knows what is best for you.

Nothing to do with safety, but all to do with control. If they wanted to improve safety, then there would be more visible traffic police on the roads, who can identify bad and dangerous driving, that speed detectors/cameras can not, and would also be an instant deterrent.

@@GilmerJohn generally, western elderly don't die at a rate greater than western birth rates. This means that below- replacement birth rates can still grow a population, albeit an aging population. That is the big problem with western low birth rates... Not a decline in numbers but rather the disproportional increase in elderly. We can seriously encourage our women folk to breed more (expensive!) plus restrict medical treatment for elders' major health issues so they die off at a more sustainable rate (highly controversial). Or, we can do nothing and turn western society into a real version of Cocoon the movie. Or, we can import people from outside the West to make up for our lack of breeding and dying
@GilmerJohn
@GilmerJohn 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidadiwego4608 Why do either. Eventually, us old folks will pass on and it will all come down to whether the "breeding" generation is replacing itself. To a good approximation, it's not. Is that a real problem? Unless in a nuke age we wish to fight a war of attrition and counter human wave attacks with our own human waves, the numbers don't make much difference. IOW: there is nothing wrong with the population going down. It will mean that the "carbon footprint" will shrink; personally I think that is a nonsense concern but for those that care, there it is. There are other ways to "exploit" the teaming masses: one way is to raise their standard of living by letting them start on the road to industrialization. When they happens, the birth rate goes down. In the mean time, we we want folks to take care of us when we can't get around some of us might we will to become expats in some sh*thole place. We move away from family and friends but we can live like kings and queens otherwise. We can keep in touch with relatives and friends the old fashion way: the internet.

I live in a town of 13,000 or so & I have an average of two close calls a day, mostly people running red lights, passing anywhere they want & driving 20-30 mph over the speed limit. Motorcycles & bicyclists are even worse. I am a libertarian but if people can’t behave & not endanger others society as a whole needs to step in & address the problem. It might make a difference in America but here in Britain someone doing 40 in a 60 makes little difference to overall journey time. I've plodded along at 40 and spotted cars that over took me 2 or 3 cars ahead 10 miles later waiting at a junction. The steadier you drive the better you can judge junctions and the less likely someone is to over brake meaning the stress on driver and vehicle is less and the time gain is minimal.

Here is France tailgating is the big problem. No cars for miles on my local fast road. Then 25 cars all driving like a train, 2 yards apart at 90kph. On country roads they get so close you could pass them a sandwich if you both had sunroofs. There`s absolutely no room for error, if I hit a deer or brake hard they are involved too. Just plain dumb.

Go back and buy old gas gusslers. The UK is not part of the EU anymore and speed doesn't kill, stupid drivers do. I have used the Autobahn many atimes and speed definetly is not the culprit it's the idiot slow drivers who don't look before crossing over into the fast lane hoggin the lane causing the accident. If this country remove all these silly road cameras and up the speed limit up to 80 or 90mph and put the hard shoulder back into use the congestion problem will ease. It's the slow and non observing drivers who need looking at.

if they can limit your speed they can stop you moving - the AI can also be hacked or 'make an error' and increase your speed....imagine that, all cars maxxed - no recipe for disasters here, move along now - starting to see the reason why they want combustion gone yet? safer or more efficient roads? - like not so smart motorways you mean? none sense

Very dangerous for motorcycle if the system actually brakes for you. I can't see it implemented on those. Als, people can pass many car test but the idiots will still drive like idiots when by themselves. Its a mental issue with these guys. A psychological test is is needed than extra car tests.

Autonomous cars will NEVER be allowed in the UK because we are a country of blame culture and no UK court or police force will ever accept "my car was driving" as a defence, they will always want a person to blame. Hence why RTA was changed to RTC in the noughties because 'accident' implies that no person was to blame.
