The artwork is unbelievable. A Cinelli Laser road bike? A Bianchi Centenario? That is kinetic art. Jon was in awe and so was I. The bikes in the background were classic. A Colnago Arabesque! I want to go there just to look at them! Those bikes had soul. Yes, the latest carbon fibre tech is lightweight and attractive in it's own way, but it has nothing on the beauty of those bikes. Polished metal drivetrains have given way to black. Vibrant colors to accent paint. Chrome to carbon weave. Shaped tubing at one time was rare, now it's common. Time moves on, but beauty is timeless. Thank you for making this video!

This video takes me back. I was fortunate enough to own Rossin, Basso, and De Rosa frames always equipped with Campagnolo Super Record. Owned 'em, rode 'em, LOVED 'em. My last Italian Campy bike was the De Rosa and my gruppo options were Shimano or Campy. It was 1985. I put Campy on it so the heritage was dignified and never looked back. I loved those bikes and have always felt some soul was forever lost when index shifting and the latest of the latest became the standard approach. My Serrota carbon/titanium Ottrott is wonderful but it lacks that elan those old Italian rigs just oozed. Sigh.....

I've been a rider myself on bianchi's bikes. I've notice something unusual: Indurain's bike you said from '96. Mounted a '94 cranckset. In '95 Record crankset changed shape with most rounded cranck arms. Probably it depends by Miguelon's preferences or by unavailabilty ok 180 mm long new kind of cranckset.... Who knows???

A mechanic in Vancouver sold me one of Jon's hypothetical 13-18 Campagnolo freewheels for $25 because I was poor and he couldn't sell it. Combined with 52-42 chainrings and youthful enthusiasm, I forced the cranks around and became strong, if not smart. Grinding up a short steep hill one morning, I learned that it was possible to snap a Campy cog loose from the freewheel if one tried hard enough. There was no proper bike shop in the town I was working in at the time, so I had to suffer a 13-17 straight block til the job ended and I got back to Vancouver. On the bright side, I now had money for a freewheel that wasn't a knee punishing monster.
