Ep.10/11[‘GCSE in Art made simple:The Complete Beginners Guide’]
A discussion about the GCSE in Art & Design qualification. This video is a part of a series of 11 videos of the course ‘GCSE in Art & Design made simple: The Complete Beginners Guide’. The information on this video is based on the 2 year GCSE qualification by Edexcel examination board, however, it is applicable to the other exam boards, such as the AQA, Eduqas, OCR, WJEC, and CCEA, since the structure and the assessment objectives are very similar. You will see lots of examples of students’ work specifically from the fine art title, but the advice given applies to all titles besides fine art, such as graphic design, textile design, three-dimensional design, photography, and art, craft, and design as the portfolio development, exam procedure and marking criteria are the same.

Wait, can i bring the mini piece i did before the exam into the exam, or is it just equipment to make the art??

yes you should bring the mini piece as well all your sketchbook work related to the preparation work. All needs to be submitted on the day of the exam anyways!

@@zoua. I had mine last week, honestly it’s not bad at all, it’s quite relaxing, just make sure you have a backup plan for if u have time left over because the majority of my class had over 1.5 hours left at the end

Do you know if we're still going to get given a theme this year?

I know that Edexcel has decided not give a theme so there will be no exam this year. The assessment will be based only on Conponent 1 portfolio work. Not sure about the other exam boards though. Usually the theme is given in January, so if you have not received a theme yet then propably not.

@@neptunianman altho it is 100% portfolio you do still create a final piece as part of your portfolio just outside of the exam setting (like in normal art lessons) or at least that's the case for my exam board

@@relishin Thanks, I just found out when the date for my exam is, but my teacher is incredibly bad at communicating whats going on
